There is an inner and outer box, so if you are gifting this you probably want to remove the outer one. I'm pleasantly surprised, this is pretty decent for what it is and the price point it is offered at. I spent a significant amount of time last year digitizing a whole collection of records using a fairly decent modern turntable, so I'm still somewhat in the loop as far as what is sounding good, playing at the correct speeds etc. This suitcase player will do the job and has a lot of bonus features some may or may not use. There is a spare stylus in the box, great! Not too much of a learning curve, you will definitely want to read the manual at least once but it's all pretty straightforward and you will likely already know which features are of interest to you. Picked this up as a gift for my father-in-law. He says this turntable paired along with a set of high quality BT headphones it is fantastic - but the inbuilt speakers are just blah (his words). He says he had been sitting on a huge collection of 45s for years with no way to play them. The battery lasts long enough for him to enjoy the portable player while he hangs out on his deck enjoying the summer evenings. My Mom was so excited to show me the records she bought at an antique store a few months ago but was in tears when she tried to use her old record player and it wasn't working. So, when I saw this I just couldn't say no. She absolutely loves it. It's easy for her to use and she loves that she can take it out on the porch with her.
