I wondered if I might accidentally press the button and release the pan while using it, but no. You have to push the button forward (not press it down) to release the handle. I like that the pots nest so well and don't take up much room in my cupboard because there are no handles. The universal lid also saves space, but if you're gonna need to use more than one lid at the same time, you'll be out of luck. These are not real heavy pans. The bottoms are somewhat thin. Keep that in mind when cooking. You don't need high heat or you'll burn your food. I use mostly iron skillets & pans for cooking. they can take high heat without burning food. I've read good things about this brand and have seen it recommended in articles online. It's a nice set. I got the 12 piece cream white version. I would describe the quality as the first 'good' set of pans you would buy when starting out in your independent adult life. For some of us, that's good enough for life. For others, this kind of set will be a stepping stone to a higher quality, more expensive set. If you aren't used to cooking with SS there will be a learning curve. First, no matter what the marketing says, SS is not reliably non-stick. I see many reviewers here complaining about sticking food or stains. There are ways to minimize that. The first is to heat the pan up while dry. After a couple of minutes add oil. This should help minimize sticking. You can season the pan as well by heating it dry over medium high heat for a couple of minutes. Add oil and continue to heat just until the oil begins to smoke, then remove from heat and let it cool down. Wipe well. Just like you would with a cast iron pan. To remove burnt on food try just boiling it off or go for a heavy duty degreaser like Goo Gone or Bartender's Helper. Second, don't overheat the pan. This can cause 'rainbow' discoloration. If that happens, cook some tomato sauce or canned tomatoes in the pan. It will help remove that. Third, don't use steel wool to clean your pans. Just don't. That SS may seem indestructible. but steel wool can damage it and cause scratches or pits. Fourth, and you'll hate this, but don't wash these in the dishwasher. Hand wash them and make sure you dry them right away. I suggest washing them, at least some of the times, with Barkeeper's Friend. It's great for removing normal stains and mineral deposits. I got this set to replace some older pots and pans I owned. I liked how many different pots and pans came in this package, and I also liked the white color too, so I decided to try them out. This set has worked just like any other stainless steel pans I've used before. If I don't let the pots/ pans get hot enough, food will stick to them - but that is typical to any other stainless steel cookware I've used in the past. The portable handle has worked well and grips each pot/ pan very firmly. Enough so that I don't worry about the pot/ pan falling off. The lid just sits on top of the pot/ pan but isn't really snug. At first I thought they were a little small but they're actually perfect! I followed instructions to preheat so nothing was sticky on the pan, heat was very evenly distributed when i followed the instructions and everything came out great and cleaned off easily after use.
