This Ylong tattoo kit has nearly everything you need to begin teaching yourself to do tattoos. The quality is pretty good all around. The tattoo pen is a much smaller form than I am used to and it works well as a compact option. It has a nice, large, easy to read LED screen and simple controls that are intuitive. The one thing that disappointed me about the pen is that I wish that it retracted the needle a little bit more when turned off. Ideally, pens will fully retract the needle into the cartridge so that no part of the needle sticks out at all once you turn the pen off. It's a safety measure. With my pen, the needle stuck out a tiny bit, about 1/2 a millimeter. The reason you want it fully retracted is so that you don't accidentally bump it and pierce yourself on the needle. The kit comes with a piece of 3 mm practice skin. I think this is the correct size of practice skin to use. The 1 mm isn't deep enough. The 3 mm is deep enough to allow you to practice hitting the correct depth in skin for laying the ink. Too shallow and the ink will come out. Too deep and the ink will bleed and spread under the skin. You want to try to hit between 1.5 and 2mm depth. The kit comes with a bit of transfer paper and transfer gel. I haven't gotten transfer gel in a kit before and I like that addition a lot. The needle cartridges are good quality. I have used Yilong cartridge needles before and have consistently been happy with them. The gloves and ink cups are pretty standard. This set included dental bibs which are great for keeping your work space clean. The ink is good quality. The pigment is fully saturated. The colors are bright and vibrant. I would suggest only using this ink for practice and not on human skin. I really only trust a handful of brands for use on human skin. I would recommend being highly cautious when tattooing people but this ink is perfect for practicing on silicone skins. Overall, it is a nice kit for the price. The pen is very easy to use and works smoothly. The kit is jam packed with stuff. IT is pretty much everything you need to start learning and is a good option for someone interested in exploring tattoo art. Read more

This is an astounding value. You get everything you need to start learning how to tattoo right of the box. These machines are becoming more and more popular and I think they are the likely future of tattoo machines. It is different to tattoo with this rather than a standard tattoo setup. The biggest thing being the lack of foot switch. Adapting to using my thumb on the power button instead of my foot was a bit strange. Sets like this should be the starting point for those interested in tattooing. You get the machine which doubles as a liner and a shader based on cartridge which are easy to switch out (even back and forth). Then ink, gloves, fake skin, etc I felt the machine was good at shading, but to me it really shines as a liner. I got a great steady crisp thick line working in the American Traditional style that I was very surprised. I will say that the "skin" that comes with it is not great, but that is a small complaint. As someone completely new to tattooing, I was looking for a kit that had everything I needed to get started—and this one delivered. It came with all the essentials to begin practicing right away, which made the whole experience a lot less intimidating. My first attempt definitely wasn’t perfect, but I was actually surprised by how well it turned out for being my very first tattoo.
