I'm very happy with this product and highly recommend it. Ease of installation: this device slides into a slot and depending on your device, is held in place with a screw, clip, or lever. In my case, I turned a clip to release the old one, slid in the new one, then turned the clip back. As far as data migration, the Samsung Magician software made this process very simple. I selected the old drive, clicked migrate, and in 10 minutes my computer installation was transferred. I then swapped the positions of the old and new drives so that my computer would start on the new drive. Performance: I noticed a difference on my computer from the moment I started with the new drive. My computer started noticeably faster. I tried loading programs which were known to be slow to start (such as Gimp on Windows 11), and they were also much faster. Operations such as game patching with Steam, program installation, zipping files, and virus scans were all significantly improved. To quantify that statement, the old drive was a Samsung 860 EVO. Using the Crystal DiskMark 8.06 testing software, here are the improvements: Test, old result (read/write), new result (read/write) SEQ1MQ8T1, 3342/1836, 14609/13500 SEQ1MQ1T1, 2059/1834, 8941/9569 RND4K Q32T1, 804/834, 1045/923 RND4K Q1T1, 43/182, 92/337 Some of these numbers are over 4x faster! (Higher is better). Heat: heat can be an issue with performance disks, and mine reached a high of 49C under normal use. Testing note: my computer has its own heat sink. Why is this important? If these disks reach a very high temperature (around 80C), they slow down in order to stay cool. This issue is known as "thermal throttling". It was not an issue in my testing. Value: There are a number of new drives in this class (PCIe5, 2nd wave) in 2025, and this was one of the first to come out. It still tests very well against the competition in a variety of use cases. It was the cheapest in this class at the time of purchase on Prime Day. Spending $10-$30 more would not give me significantly better performance, so the value was the best option at the time. Warranty: The warranty from Samsung is 5 years. This is better than some drives with 3 year warranties. Packaging: The drive arrived in attractive packaging with an installation guide in 35(!!) languages. The drive was in a plastic tray in a box and seemed like it would be padded against moderate damage. Conclusion: I was very happy with the performance and value of this purchase. I feel content in knowing I have one of best options available. I recommend this if you simply want the best, or have tasks which rely on fast drive speeds. An example would be a content creator. Ridiculously fast on a PCI-E 5.0 slot. Speeds were exactly as advertised. It handles small file transfers extremely well with the I/O of the drive saturating a part of the PCI-E bus that would normally go underutilized. Large file transfers demonstrate the advertised speeds. Running 2 in RAID-1, 3 in RAID-5, and 4 in RAID10 produced the expected speed gains. Installation was a breeze, as it should be. I definitely recommend getting the standard version and adding your own aftermarket heatsink if you have the space, or an aftermarket heat spreader if you don't have the room. Read more

Overall, seem like a geat NVMe SSD. replaced tthe T705 1TB for a 9100 PRO. SSD speeds may not be the max as it shows on the box. verys on user Motherboard bandwidth. Motherboard is a Gigabyte Z790 AORUS MASTER EATX LGA1700. its Max interface is Gen 5x8, while 9100 PRO is Gen 5x4. Recommnd a Clean install of WIndows 10 Home 64 bit. SSD must be installed in the First SSD slot near the CPU. ....TheSamsung 9100 PRO SSD is backwards compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 x4 interfaces. While it is designed for PCIe 5.0 slots, it can be used in older PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 slots, but performance will be limited by the slower interface. Worked right out of the box in my MSI Vector 16 HX A14V. I got the heatsink version and it fits in my laptop (I was worried until I put the cover back on). The speeds are double my old ssd drive and the heat is also between 48oC to 68oC. Typically around 58oC. Although more expensive than the Crucial T705 I needed a cooler option with a low profile heat sink and also lower power consumption just because laptops are notoriously cramped and hot.
