Silver Fang is the latest in this excellent series from Bezier Games, one of the best modern card games for four players. Silver is that rare card game that is thoughtful enough for serious game players but approachable for regular card players. Game play is simple but interesting to explore: You start with five face down cards, with a peek at two of them. Each turn, you work to reduce the total value of your cards by exchanging cards and playing the abilities of the cards. Rounds are fun and quick, and you try to get the lowest score after four rounds. And each of these games has a cool silver token with a special ability. This installment of Silver adds a new twist if played alone, where you team up with another player against the other 2 players to rid yourselves of werewolves first. This was my introduction to Silver, if I'm honest and I found it a bit confusing and difficult to understand at first. So, if this is your first foray, as well, I'd suggest buying the base deck of cards just called Silver and starting there. Once I had my group of friends gathered and the rules sorted (none of us had previously played), we did have fun but were also a little limited by the small size of the deck seeing as it was my only one. This game is, from what I can determine, much better with more cards. This pack adds some very interesting characters and challenges if you are already established and want to build out your deck, so is very worth the investment. But as a new player, I would, again, suggest skipping this one until you're a little more familiar with the mechanics. Overall, I had fun playing it and think it's a great excuse to bring friends together for a night of gaming. Read more

With the addition of Silver Fang, there are now 6 games in the Silver series of games. If you're just getting started, you may want to begin with the first game in the series: Silver Amulet: https://www.amazon.com/Bezier-Games-SLVABEZ-Silver/dp/B07QNNCCQG/ That said, all of the games in this series can be played as a standalone game. This set is NOT an expansion. However, the cards in each set can be combined to create new variations, so there is some fun in combining the sets. All the games in the Silver series have similar rules. Players begin with 5 cards in front of them that represent the people in their village. Unfortunately all our villages are infested with werewolves, represented by the number value on each card (i.e. A card with the number 9 means that villager attracts 9 werewolves). At the start of the game, all 5 cards are face down, and players choose any 2 cards to turn face up. So you begin with limited knowledge of how many werewolves are in your village. As you play, you'll draw more cards and use them to activate special abilities that will allow you to learn more about the people in your village and either use their powers or swap them out for cards with a lower value (meaning fewer werewolves in your village). The person with the fewest werewolves in their village at the end of the game wins. An individual round usually takes about 10-12 minutes to play, and the game is meant to be played over 4 rounds. To play effectively, you need to make the best use of the peoples' special abilities, take some calculated risks, and maintain a good memory of all your cards, since some of them will likely remain face down throughout the game. If you want to learn more about the new characters introduced in Silver Fang, I included pictures of the summary provided with the game. The cards in Silver Fang were designed to be especially interesting when you're playing the Team Version of the game (described in the rulebook), because they create some interesting benefits and effects when two players are working together. Finally, like all games in the Silver series, it includes a really wonderful card organizer and a storage compartment for the actual silver fang piece.
