First I'll hit on the great things, from the perspective of somebody who's never had a really nice keyboard before. It feels and sounds super nice to type on, definitely a big step up over my lower quality brown switch keyboard with very little noise dampening and poor stabilizers. I plan on replacing the keycaps but they're not offensive looking at least, just kinda bland which is okay. The body looks nice and I'm glad they nailed the beige like this, and it feels really substantial, being aluminum instead of plastic. The heft is a bit of a catch 22 as it's a bit hard to position if you want to move it, but I like it. QMK/VIA support is a big plus, a major reason I decided to get the board. It took a little doing to get it to work originally (the website wouldn't work but I got the standalone app to work fine??), and the lighting effects don't offer quite as much control as i'd like, but overall it is so nice to have a way to configure my keys extensively and natively on Linux. The connectivity has so far been quite good and simple. I haven't tested the bluetooth out yet, but the 2.4g has been mostly painless. It "sleeps" the board a bit aggressively to conserve battery, so occasionally i'll go to type and have to redo the first few letters, but I understand why they made that tradeoff. Speaking of which, Battery life seems fair enough, I can go quite a while before it gets near empty. Now to the not so great. The knob... I hope i can replace the knob. turning it feels so nice but the metal is too smooth. kinda tough to grip at times. The screen is a nice-to-have feature, and i like to have some info at a glance. But the software is windows-only (of course), and it's pretty janky to use. They didn't put much work into it, and it shows. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of. Also they kept advertising it as an OLED screen, and I strongly suspect that's false. It has a plainly visible backlight glow that should not be there on an OLED. Oh, and you can't turn it off/control the brightness as of this review. A bit of a bummer but not a deal breaker by any means. I mentioned how the VIA functionality took extra doing at first, and the lighting control is a bit limited (no per-key assignment), but on top of that, when i first uploaded the Json file from their website it came up as the AL68, clearly indicating that they lazily forked that code to work on this board. I downloaded the updated file today and that has the proper name now, and it all worked even with the wrong name so I won't complain too much, but it'd be nice if they paid a bit more attention to having their QMK/VIA code be available and updated. All in all, this is a fine board and at just under $90 I feel like I got what I paid for so far quality and feature wise. I don't know if I would be willing to pay the full $110 original MSRP but luckily I didn't have to. 新しいキーボードが欲しいと思い購入しました。 タイピングが気持ちいいキーボードです。買ってよかった。コンパクト系のキーボードにありがちな雑なキー配置ではなく、バランスが取れています。 ただ人によってはビックスペースの隣にあるpgupが気になるかも。 押し心地にかんしては、さすがアルミ筐体。しっかりとした感覚が指先に帰ってきます。重さも軽すぎず、高級感があります。 打鍵音はカタカタといった軽めの抜けるような感じの音です。 あと、キータイプにもよりますが、キー荷重が少し重めですね。 タイピングが雑なこともあってRAINY75などは誤タイプが多いのですが、緩和された上にタイプスピードも上がったので思わぬ恩恵です。 Read more

Keyboard looks and feels great, on this basis alone it's well worth the money (especially if you snag in a sale). The only problem is the LCD screen. You need to download software from the Yunzii website if you wish to make changes to the display, and the software is flagged as malware. On top of this, there is lots of debris and dust UNDER the display glass, requiring you to disassemble the entire unit to remove this. And speaking of the glass, after peeling off the top wrapper from the glass, it scuffed and scratched just from using my sleeve to rub it. Feels more like cheap plastic than anything. Read more

I currently own around 30ish keyboards and even more keycap sets. After buying and loving a Yunzii AL65 with Gateron Zero switches, I looked to Yunzii the next time I purchased a keyboard. They have a lot of great boards to choose from, but I ultimately picked the AL80, since I wanted a 75% hotswap board with an anodized, beige, aluminum case, a knob and an LCD screen that supported animated GIFs. I also was NOT interested in a keyboard that required the removal of a keycap to change modes or turn off the keyboard, which is frustratingly common lately. The AL80 has a lot to recommend it, and I am not aware of another keyboard, especially at its price point, that offers the same array of features. Definitely not on Amazon, because I looked. The AL80 possesses a gorgeously anodized aluminum case, PVD weight, tri-mode capabilities, an easily accessible mode switch (no annoying keycap removal required), on-board dongle storage, dual batteries (total 6000mAh), *excellent* Gateron Zero linear switches (LOVE!), lubed stabilizers, PBT doubleshot keycaps, metal knob with a standard D shaft (easy to swap out for variety), robustly featured LCD screen with four different views that can be configured (date/time/mode/battery view with animated GIF; separate startup animated GIF; a full-screen animated GIF view; AND a view that allows you to swap between multiple static images), a light bar to the left of the arrow cluster (uses color to indicate which mode you're on, then changes to RGB), VIA configuration, etc., etc. As a keyboard hobbyist, I've unfortunately become very particular, so I will add: The gasket mounting is stiff, which is not my personal preference. I'm finding it's a surprisingly common "feature" among newer gasket mount mechanical keyboards, which are packed full - perhaps TOO full - of sound dampening foam layers. Gateron Zeros aren't a heavy switch, and I don't pound the keys when I type, so I don't find it to be a problem - especially when Gateron Zeros are such a delight to type on. There is also a small section of the keyboard that sounds rather hollow when tapping on a few specific keys. On my keyboard, the U key is the only alpha noticeably affected by this during normal typing. The few others are adjacent number and F-row keys. Most users won't notice anything, especially when those few keys sound better than many keyboards sold today. On the software side, VIA is VIA, love it or hate it. As for the separate LCD screen software, it works fairly well, but could use some enhancements and updates. It sometimes crashes, and the reset option does not seem to restore the original animated GIF files. I would also like to see an option to change the 24 hour clock to a 12 hour clock, and for end users to be able to change the time's background color. Purple is just NOT a neutral color. Finally, Yunzii support is FANTASTIC to work with. Any questions or concerns I've had, there's been a response as soon as the time difference allowed. They even actively read and respond to reviews.
