Installed this five days ago primarily for better video performance and occasional photography projects. Its 2700K-6500K range perfectly matches our home's mixed lighting - warm incandescent in the evening, daylight from windows during home office hours. The app control is genuinely useful when setting up shots around the house, can adjust everything from my phone without disturbing the setup. The aluminum construction feels durable enough for moving between rooms as needed. The 12 lighting effects are interesting though I mainly stick to basic dimming and color temperature adjustments. Heat output is manageable even during longer sessions. The Bowens mount compatibility allows me to use softboxes and other modifiers I already own. I ordered this Studio style light for everything from family photos, still photography, macro's and review stuff. I take tons of pictures of pretty much everything and always need a good light. This one is wicked! I am super excited to have ordered it. It floods great. Kills shadows and is versatile in brightness and color tone. I really love it. The kit comes with a big reflector for flooding light. A protective cap. A super long cord. It basically fits just about any standard tripod. It also comes with detailed instructions. Setting it up was pretty easy. Put it on your tripod. Take the protector off by pushing the lock button and twisting it. Put the Reflector on by putting it in and twisting until you hear the lock click. Plug it in and turn it on. Assembly took 5 minutes . Reading the instructions and tinkering with all the features is what takes time. Which is expected with such a professional light. It will take some experimenting and trial and error to see what works best for your photo's lighting. The quality is just awesome. It has a big built in fan. It is pretty silent. Tons of air cools it do to it having vents on the top and bottom. You can tilt it completely up or down almost 180 degrees. The dials for switching brightness and modes are extremely smooth and feel great. The LCD screen is great for seeing all the details in low light without effecting the surroundings. The controls are on the back. The light is pretty heavy do to it being constructed with quality components for cooling and durability. So you will need a proper Tripod that can hold a bit of weight that is equally sturdy and balanced. That said the light is balanced really nicely. It does not feel like it will tip over do to poor weight distribution. It is prefect in this regard. Controlling it is pretty simple. There is lots of features. It has a on/off button. A Dial for Brightness. A mode button. The dial for brightness also switches your lighting mode and color temperature as well as styles when you press the mode button. It has lots of pre installed effects . Fireworks. Welding. Pulse. Tv. Various looping of color temperatures. And many more. You can fine tune each effect. I think it is great. It is one of the best photography lights I have ever tried. You can get really professional lighting for your pictures with this. I’ve been using the FS-300B for a few weeks now, and I’m blown away by the performance at this price point. The brightness is seriously impressive, especially with the included reflector — more than enough for interviews, talking head setups, and product videos. The bi-color range (2700K to 6500K) gives me full control over the look and mood of my shoots. Setup is super simple, and the build feels solid despite the mostly plastic housing. I love that it uses a Bowens mount, so it works perfectly with my existing softboxes and modifiers. The included effects are a fun bonus and add some extra creative flexibility. The FS series is very, very hard to beat for the price. Solid build quality, great output and color accuracy, and couldn't be easier to use. It's ideal for a small or home studio setup, because all you need is the light and the power cord, no external power/control ballast or AC adapter. I needed a new studio light and read lots of great things about the Nanlite FS300 so I picked it up! Right out of the box you can tell its a quality built light. Metal casing with a very durable build. I like that it has a built in grab handle for easy carry and built in swivel U mount. Its 300w so its very powerful and no need for external power block, just the power cable. Its app controllable which is great! It brings a large reflector as an added bonus as well.
