I got this to replace and original surface pen that still had the replaceable battery. I like that this one recharges even if it is with a cord, you don't need to do it that often. I recently purchased a Surface Laptop Studio (Gen 1) and was looking into buying the official Slim Pen 2 which is was made for this laptop. However, seeing the price made me very hesitent and look at other 3rd party options. There are plenty of MPP 2.0 pens on the market (the protocol used for windows laptops to communicate with styluses) but they all do not have the same slim shape of the Slim Pen 2. This pen was the perfect 1:1 copy of the Slim Pen 2 in terms of shape and size. Pros: Magnetically attaches to the bottom of the laptop like the original pen. Replacable tip (comes with one free replacement in the box). Programmable shortcut button on the back of the pen (once connected via bluetooth can be programmed to do a varienty of functions through the pen settings page). USB-C charging. Full metal construction!! Comes with an extra magnetic strip you can stick to any other laptop so that you can attach the pen to it if your laptop doesnt have a dedicated slot for the pen. Cons: Doesnt have the eraser function on the back of the pen like the original, however you can simply hold one of the side buttons to use the eraser. Magnet isnt AS strong as the original pen, however its strong enough that simply pushing the pen under the laptop makes it snap into place without any help and it is still difficult to remove the pen even on purpose, so I doubt you could accidentally push it out and lose it. If you are still worried you can apply the provided magnetic strip to the underside for extra magnetic force, but I don't think its necessary. Doesn't have wireless charging while stored under the laptop like the original. Charges with USB-C and has a very very long battery life, you can go a full week of lectures and only then get a flashing red light to plug it in for an hour and be back to full battery. It doesn't have the haptic feedback (vibrations in the pen as you write or draw) like the original. But after watching many reviews of the original pen, I've found most people switch off this feature as they find it more annoying and gimmicky than helpful and interesting so I don't feel I'm missing out. I believe this is the best pen for Surface Laptop Studio owners looking for a seamless stylus to use, and will not feel like you cheaped out or are missing out on any major features. Microsoft is scamming people by not including the pen in the box anyways, so even if you are willing to drop a silly amount on the original pen; I'd still say buying this is a good way to encourage Microsoft to include the pens, or even a basic version in a laptop specifically designed for handwriting and drawing and costs a small fortune.
