We weren't sure if this was plastic or foam, but my husband is a stunt man and sword choreographer for movies, so he's always looking for a safe practice weapon to use for actors who are learning. This is plastic, but has a solid enough tang to use for contact, without anyone getting hurt if someone misses their mark, or a move. The fact that the paint work looks legit even pretty close up is a bonus. Would work as an on-camera or on-stage prop just fine, and I doubt anyone would notice that its fake. This plastic sword has a really fun look to it, and it looks pretty realistic from any distance. Obviously, if you get up close, it is plastic. But as a prop or cosplay piece, it's quite good. I don't have a point of comparison to similar pieces.
