I bought 3 of these to replace some workstations I had, and the first one out of the box had a bad windows key that I had to replace. The wifi was constantly dropping, if you disabled the wifi to reset it, it wouldn't let you turn it back on, you had to reboot the entire PC. None of my group policies would work correctly, and every cable in the box had evidence it was previously handled by someone else. I thought "Ok, so what if they're refurbs, maybe I can just wipe them and reinstall windows myself and just give it a clean reboot." NOPE! If you go to their site to download the drivers you're met with an exceeded sharing quota error from their google drive. Incredible. Just google "GMKtec Gaming Mini PC AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS drivers" and see for yourself. You can't download anything. I opened the second PC, and the same thing, all the cables had stretched plastic sleeves holding things in place. I didn't even bother booting it up, just put everything back in the amazon box and set it up for a return. There's a reason they're offering a $200 coupon off. If the listing mentioned they were refurbs I would have been way less harsh and understanding, but as they were listed as new, I was expecting a new product. Instead I got some else's trash. Pros: -Size -Build -Quiet Fans -Performance -Value Cons -Only 2 USB-C ports would rather have fewer USB-A ports which there are 4 -It would be nice if the RAM was 32GB on a single stick instead of 16GBx2 -I would like to see a 10Gbps LAN but having 2.5Gbps x 2 is a step in the right direction. Overall, this is a small, compact mini-PC with great build quality that is exceptionally quiet. While the value is there for what you get, I would have liked to see better interface options, particularly more USB-C ports and a faster ethernet port. Absolutely wonderful PC, except a few little quirks. Biggest issue is that the internet slows to a crawl and stops loading websites completely multiple times throughout the day, forcing a reboot or a restart of the wifi in device manager to get it back online. I ended up getting a USB wifi adapter, which works great and resolved all issues for me. In trying to fix it, I tried updating the drivers, which they had hosted on a Google drive that they were over their sharing capacity on so it would not allow for the files to be downloaded. Had to jump thru a bunch of hoops to download them and they still didn't fix the issue. Also tried getting the and drivers straight from intel with no luck. ***************UPDATE*************** 12/2/2024 Installed a MINISFORUM DEG1 External GPU Dock. This along with a RX 7700 XT from ASUS woke this machine up! I am talking Twin Turbo with a Hybrid Super Charger! My Games came to life @2K Resolutions on COD BO6. I get 112-120fps using this computer and the eGPU with GPU. I am now moving this from a 3 Star to a 5 Star review. Once I hooked up this eGPU and GPU my memory timings are faster. The whole machine is very impressive. Yes, it is a lot of money to spend, but, you get all the fun without the clutter. If you buy this PC, you need to buy the MINISFORUM DEG1 External GPU Dock with it and you can get it here on Amazon! Pros: 1. It is small and will not take up a lot of room 2. ECO friendly if you care about that 3. Low power consumption which was nice on my off grid battery powered system. Max usage was around 45 watts when not in performance mode. 4. 32GB DDR5 with 16 threads is nice to have in a little build like this. 5. Expandable m.2 storage slot (I added an additional Gen4 7,100 m.2) 6. Looks nice 7. Expandable GPU Oculink slot 8. Plenty of I/O for a mini unit 9. Quick customer support response 10. Plays Halo Infinite Great! 100+ FPS at medium settings 1080p 11. Supports 3 monitors at 4K 12. Included bracked went on the back of my monitor easily. Cons: 1. Price point. You can build a system with the same specs for the same price using the AMD 8700G Processor. 2. Does not support XMP Profiles, 99% of all memory modules have this support. This is advertised as a Gaming PC. I have ran several titles on this machine. Call of Duty Warzone BO6 & Fortnite (Low-Medium Settings averaged 30-45fps @720p & 1080p) 4. After 15min of long use, I witnessed screen tearing in 4K watching YouTube videos 5. Within 5min of launching into Fortnite or COD, I noticed tearing in game and terrible video lag. Mostly in COD. The COD issue could be with COD and not this PC as the COD Code has many complaints for Console and PC's on Reddit. 6. UEFI not supported. Uses old BIOS GUI 7. Cooling fan is sub par (Needs a way to update it with a Noctua Fan & or LED Lights) 8. Included bracket could be built a little more friendly as to not remove the rubber footing from the case when installing on the back of a monitor or a 3rd party mount. There are more pros than cons. If you are in the market or have some cash to burn, this could be a fun little toy for most. I did purchase the eGPU Oculink Dock for this model. I will update with those specs and data when it gets here the first of December. Overall I think in 2024 we could have done a little better. I bought a GMtec NucBox k-8 in July 2024 to replace my DELL Inspiron 17-7000 2n1 Intel i7-8565U / 16GBRAM Win 11, and I chose the k8 32gb+2TB configuration because my Dell was getting sluggish and unreliable. I found an ad for the NucBox Mini PC and decided to take a chance with GMKtec; this was the best tech decision I ever made. I am so pleased with GMKtec that I bought 'another' NEW k8 plus in Nov. 2024 (for my wife). When ordering, I discovered that GMKtech has improved the k8 plus, so I was excited. I'm very glad I bought another Nucbox k8 plus (32gb with 2tb ssd) because this improved k8 model is even better! It runs cooler, and is quieter than the prior generation and now includes Oculink! And they added another power option (the redesign has 4 power options and even the top watts is quite with the improved fans & cooling. This new K8 plus is so smooth, quite & cool that I can ramp up the processor (via BIOS) for extreme speed; giving me even more speed control. I am 100% satisfied with GMKtec; they make great products. I was, and I remain happy with my older k8 build, but I'm 'especially happy' with the new improved Nucbox k8. My primary usage is business research and communications, so I keep excessive #'s of open tabs in BRAVE, usually 30 to 40 tabs, along with multiple programs running. With the improved k8 I can use High Performance in BIOS. The lower performance k8 settings also run VERY FAST, with no lag, with all my apps & tabs, running videos, and live stream TV without any problem, and I can set it on high, extreme performance with no issues. I love the generous connectivity options of the k8. Bottom line is: this is an excellent computer, very competitively priced, and the bonus of a micro-box, so my desktop is a cleaner, and I can even use the included VERSA mount for placing the k8 onto the back of my monitor! If someone wants to run multiple monitors, the new K8 box is your ticket. Personally, I don't need multiple monitors, I use a 34 inch HD curved Dell desktop monitor & I'm very happy. FYI, I use Logitech Wireless Ergo m575 Rollerball with Logitech MX wireless keyboard, both running from a single USB, fortunately the K8 box provides generous connectivity. I am no longer dependent on Dell where customer service & support has diminished dramatically. The Dell new product line is unimpressive, especially after using the GMKtec K8. GMKtec has replaced Dell as my new, reliable PC vendor! I wish GMKtec would offer a K-8 option preloaded with 96GB Ram (the Max), this is the only improvement can suggest because everything else is perfect! And, yes, I know, no one 'really' needs 96GM RAM, but I 'want' 96, and would gladly pay more to get it shipped with 96 already installed. But know this 32gm is more than most people will ever need, I'm just a Tech nut and tend to go overboard.
