My PS5 controller has been with me for what feels like forever. Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, FFXIV, Atelier Ryza, Khazan, WuWa, PoE and the list goes on. These days, unless it's a shooter like Helldivers, I hardly ever use mouse and keyboard for gaming. Unfortunately, for the last year or so, it's been getting stick drift. What I normally do is I hit it with some isopropyl alcohol spin it around a bunch, but this only works for so long and then the stick drift comes back. I did some research and these seemed promising, and I'm really glad I gave it a go because these feel great. The installation process wasn't too bad either. I already owned a soldering kit, flux, and a heat gun so extra costs there either. The heat gun was the MVP since I used it to desolder the existing joystick and pop the other one in (after using flux and adding some of my own solder to lower the required temp). Only gotcha I ran into is one of the joysticks was just oh so slightly crooked since it wasn't perfectly flush with the board when I installed it. Had to hit it with the heat gun, applied some pressure, and it's all good now. After calibration, I was shocked by how much lower the average error was in comparison to my default sticks. Maybe I just got a lucky batch? I don't have much time with these joysticks, but I'm hoping they last and nothing goes haywire. If anything goes wrong, I'll update this post, but for now... no news is good news. Okay, so replacing the old ones with these can be a long and hard process (first-time soldering with minimal tools). The quality feels nice and premium, with the interchangeable thumbsticks being a bonus. They sit nicely and tightly and won't come loose easily. They work perfectly out of the box and required only quick calibration. For the money, I would say they are definitely worth it! It takes some time and patience to replace them. Pros: * Work straight away after assembly. * I've noticed a small improvement in the controller's battery life. * Nice and premium feel, even after installation. Cons: * Takes time and patience to replace the old ones with the new ones. (Not really a con, but I was stuck for four to five hours and didn't have all the tools.) * The thumbsticks might become loose after changing them a few times. Do I recommend them? Yes, absolutely! They feel and react just like the original ALPS potentiometers and ive tried ALOT of em from china etc. Very nice sticks included also of great quality. I didnt have stickdrift yet but I bought these for testing since ive been following the project for a while now. Gulikit has managed to create these amazing sticks. With the calibration software online it only needed a tiny bit of adjustment and now they are dead center with great range. Recommend big time. Gonna buy more in the future. Read more
