As a bigger lady, my wife often worries that clothes, even those in "her size" will actually fit her, however, this fits her very well and will work for the Banshee costume she has planned for Halloween! In terms of whether this fits the period or not, I'm not all that knowledgeable on that, so you'll have to know yourself when you're looking to get this, however, in general, it looks pretty good when she's wearing it to me and she likes it so that's really what matters to me. It doesn't feel like it's too cheap and that it won't fall apart after just a few uses and washes, however, you still might want to be careful with it since it does have buckle and grommets that could get stuck and tear if you're not careful. The fabric is a bit lighter than I expected and it fits quite loosely. I still like it, but will need to take it in at the waist just a bit so that it is more flattering. I bought to wear for Ren Faire and I think it will make a perfect summertime option. It was a bit too thin for Fall events unless paired with several other layers, though that is not the fault of the outfit. I like that it is all one piece and is monochromatic.
