But as of last week one of the wires was coming loose and as of this morning that side of the goggles no longer heats up. I’ve done lipiflow, ipl, all the top notch treatments, and eye drop prescriptions, tons of natural remedies yet some people like me still suffer! I’m on day one of these googles, 8 treatments so far and this thing is a game changer. I fill anywhere between a quarter of the googles with water to completely full, and trust me it’s hot! It’s actually even holding a temperature where with an ipl by the time they wipe off the ultrasound gel and extract them, my face is already cool! Words can’t express how thankful I am for this product. I mean I’ve tried it all guys, allergy tests, blood tests, filtered showered heads, meibo, restatis, top notch medical treatments, nulids, “eye press” self heating compresses (PS I do like these too, just let them cool off a bit, but still not enough). And eye drops hahaha you know how annoyed I get when someone recommends that!! Try gobs and gobs of ointment only to dry up in five mins. My eyes are just as dry as a plant in the desert dude. My dry eyes trace back to Accutane use in 2010. I had to finally say goodbye to contact lenses by 2021 in favor of glasses due to the pain and gritty feeling. I wear orange blue light blocking glasses at my 9 hour a day computer job. My eyes are red every single day. I start my day by grabbing my gel eye drops underneath my pillow, taking off my night eye mask, and squeezing in drops for desperate relief before I get out of bed. 30 minutes later, before my morning shower, I squeeze in a bit of PM eye ointment and roll my eyes around to further moisturize. The ointment in the morning ensures my eyes will not get as dry as fast. Then I struggle with the mess as I attempt light makeup. I gave up mascara years ago too. Likes drug addict, I keep extra gel drops in my bathroom, my purse, and at my work desk. Throughout the day I have to apply more drops and carry tissues for the overflow. Some days are harder than others since the humidity at the office is extremely low. In the evenings I reach for my drops in the console of my sofa, and have to keep the humidity in my home at least 45% so my eyes don’t hurt. Before I go to bed I apply gobs of eye ointment, then my sleep mask. I’ve had to retrofit my sleep mask to push down on my lids so my eyes don’t open while I’m sleeping. Throughout the night it’s not uncommon to wake 2 or 3 times and have to reach under the pillow to get my gel drop fix. Dry eyes have taken over my life. This has been going on for years. I’m only 40. These steamy goggles were expensive but I’m desperate for home based relief that doesn’t cost me thousands $$ for treatments that aren’t even guaranteed to work. So far I’ve used them twice - each for a double session. They are awesome and the most heat feels amazing. Yes, the straps are tight but that can be adjusted. Yes, they get hot but that can be calibrated with more or less water. The only light “criticism” I have is that the connection “Y” fitting on the cords could be designed to sit at chest level (like headphone cords) instead of right below the chin, to allow each single cord the ability to be tucked behind the ears. I’m unable to drink coffee without a metal straw when I have these on, and wearing them in the morning before going to work is something I want to do and coffee is important in the morning! Or perhaps design the cords to enter on the sides of the goggles to change their angle, and clip the cords to the rubber head strap. In July 2024, I suddenly woke up with severe dry eyes. As a contact lens wearer for over 35 years, my eyes have always been dry, but it was manageable—I rarely needed eye drops. This was different. My eyes started feeling dry in the morning, not just at night like they usually did, and the problem hasn’t gone away since. I’ve tried nearly every over-the-counter eye drop recommended on this site, but nothing provided relief. It took months to get an eye doctor appointment, and when I finally went about a month ago, I was prescribed two steroid eye drops (one for a few weeks and one for a month) and Xiidra. The steroid drops haven’t helped much, and I only just picked up the Xiidra after insurance delays. I haven’t started it yet, as I’ve read mixed reviews, including concerns about its impact on vision. I’ve stopped wearing my contact lenses altogether, but it hasn’t seemed to make much difference. I’ve also purchased the Thrive eye makeup as recommended on a dry eye FB group. Unfortunately, whether I wear makeup or not, my symptoms remain the same. Previously, I used Pond’s Fragrance-Free Cold Cream to remove my eye makeup for the past few years, but I recently learned that the phenoxyethanol in it may not be good for MGD. I’ve since switched to micellar water, but I haven’t noticed any improvement from the change. I’m tapered off the steroid eye drops and have been using Systane Complete preservative-free drops, which I like. But the biggest relief I’ve felt recently has come from using steam goggles I bought here on Amazon. I use them twice daily with reverse osmosis (RO) water instead of distilled, and while I’ve read it can take weeks for full benefits, they’ve made a noticeable difference. I’ve been diagnosed with moderate to severe MGD (meibomian gland dysfunction), but my eye doctor didn’t explain much about supplements, diet, or skincare/makeup products to avoid. In fact, she didn’t explain things very well to me and seemed irritated by my questions. I’m seeking a second opinion from someone who takes a more holistic approach to address the root cause. I also wonder if my thyroid might be linked to this. My doctor mentioned I’m on the verge of hypothyroidism, and I’ll be retesting my levels soon. On top of this, I’m on hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), which initially helped my dry eyes tremendously when I first started years ago. However, in July, around the time my eye issues worsened, my hormone levels spiked despite staying on the same dosage. My estrogen was at its highest level, and my testosterone unexpectedly shot up to 300, even though I was on a very low dose. I stopped testosterone completely and lowered my estradiol while maintaining the same progesterone dose, but my dry eyes haven’t improved. I suspect there may be a connection between these hormone fluctuations and my thyroid. It’s worth noting that my hormones crashed unexpectedly after I had COVID and then received the booster shot three days later. In hindsight, this wasn’t the best decision—I wasn’t considering that I had antibodies. I was more focused on protecting my elderly parents. Within 10 days, I went into full-blown menopause at just 45 years old, with undetectable hormone levels. It was a traumatic experience, leaving every part of my body dry, especially my eyes, nose, and mouth. HRT alleviated these symptoms for a few years, but now I’m back to dealing with severe dry eyes. I’m retesting my hormones soon to see where things stand. For now, I’m hopeful that the steam goggles will continue to help. This STEAM GOGGLE-Powerful Dry Eye/Stye Relief is lovely relief for my dry eyes. It is easy to use and the portable battery pack works for many uses. I appreciate that I can still see and do things while treating my eyes (I just put the battery pack in a pocket). It also feels so nice on my eyes. Being able to blink easily really makes it feel more effective. I use it without my contacts in because I'm not sure how those would interact. The only negative for me, is I need to plan ahead or do this at night as this does leave serious goggle marks on my eyes, mostly the lower half. I don't have it too loose or too tight (I'm a life-long swimmer, goggles are not new to me), but the weight of the cords and grid just pull it down and make the lower half leave some serious goggle marks. They fade, but it takes a while. It's not enough of an issue for me to stop using it, but it does mean planning ahead knowing I'll be rocking a full or half racoon look for a while after using it. I ordered this for my sister and it’s perfect for her. She had some eye problems and had eye surgeries. The eye specialist recommended this and it has definitely made improvements. I have been loving these!!!!! Seriously life changing. Every dry eye sufferer knows, the go-to is "warm compresses". But the problem is that they're all awful. They either don't stay warm and/or completely disable you the entire time you use them. None of that is the case with these. These heat up quickly, evenly, and consistently, AND you can keep your eyes open for your phone, computer, or TV if you want to. I've been using them every single day, almost always twice a day. It's become my go-to warm compress. At first my eyes were pretty sensitive, but now I'm able to keep my eyes open the entire treatment once my eyes started healing and after getting used to them. I use the little bottle that comes with it to adjust the temperature of it. More squares filled with water = hotter. Less squares = less hot. I started off at about half squares or so and gradually advanced to filling some more squares as I got used to it. I know it says you can use tap water, but I prefer to use distilled. Figured the most pure water on my eyes was probably best since my eyes are super sensitive and I've had really good luck with that. And I find it keeps them cleaner longer too. I was worried it might leave goggle marks, but it doesn't need to be literally fastened like a swim goggle -- it can rest loosely around your eyes and still get the job done! Minimal marks and they go away super quick. Only thing is you don't want to lie down in these!!! They do literally STEAM so you don't want the hot drips to come down -- only sit up in these -- safety first! I have a different compress I use if I'm super tired and want to lie down, but you can still close your eyes in these too, and I do sometimes if I'm feeling sleepy. But a huge benefit to these is that being able to be up and use my phone or computer or even just watch TV makes me feel a more like a normal human again. There's a small area on the goggles that somehow doesn't fog up, so you can still see out of them! I've worked at the computer, scrolled through my phone, etc. So my life doesn't have to come to a grinding halt for warm compress time. And even if I'm resting my eyes during, I can open them whenever I need or want to -- you can't do that with other compresses. Plus, I'm sure the blinking throughout the procedure is an added benefit for MGD. This device is very similar to the very elusive (and very expensive) Blephasteam in Europe. You do need to reset the goggle if you want a longer treatment, which I usually do. Not a big deal, just add a little more water, give em a tap, hit the button again, and you're on your way again. I typically do 2 back-to-back rounds. I also love that these don't put any pressure on my eyes!!!!! The compress I used to regularly use before this that I used to love and swear by before finding these...my god...the pressure on the eye balls. This thing fixes nearly everything I've always complained about with every other compress. It's seriously been a godsend. I love, love, LOVE!!!!! I shout it from the rooftops every time someone is looking for a USB mask on Facebook or a Blephasteam alternative. I am a chronic severe dry eye sufferer. I have gone through punctal plug surgery, IPL sessions, steroids, restasis ikervis tyrvaya and many many types of eyedrops. You name it, I've probably tried it. My dry eye has developed into mild blepharophasm. When I was living in another country, I had access to routine IPL sessions followed by meibomian gland expressions. Meaning someone would press my glands with tweezers to express the stuck meibom. I also got to use blephasteam goggles in the hospital. This routine seemed to help reduce my symptoms to manageable. However when I moved here, I couldn't find blephateam sold anywhere. I emailed the company with no reply. I settled with aroma heated mask that I use twice a day for 20-60mins each. They do get hot but not for long and I hate having to not do anything in that time period. After the mask, I would express my own glands with the eye tweezer and massage with myboclean and eyelid cleanser. I don't think this routine is working because whenever I express my glands, I rarely see anything coming out and my eyes just kept getting worse. Black friday came, and I found this device. I notive the design seems to learn from blephasteam. So I directly bought it. It came today and I tried it on after shower. Some people says to only put half of water to acclimate your eyes but I put full amount of water. It got hot like blephasteam, to the point that you can feel your glands burning. But it felt good. I did 2 sessions because it stopped at 10mins and it's not enough. After that I went to express my glands and OH MY GOD. I literally have never seen so much gunk coming out of my glands before (at home expessions). It looks like when the hospital showed me my expressions after IPL/blephasteam. I am going to use this twice a day now. I really hope my eyes will feel better. Now the device has a lot of room to improve. The design is clunky and complicated. There's a cable that has to be connected to a powerbank. I would prefer a longer cable that I can plug to a charging port directly instead of a powerbank. Seems like the price is high because you're buying an extra powerbank. The water reservoir design should be easier to fill. And the most important is timer. It would be best to get the device to stop at 20mins instead of 10mins because that is the amount of time needed to actually melt the oil. 10mins is not enough. The best relief I've ever felt from a warm compress. It really gets hot, and kinda trains you to handle the heat if you want the relief. It also lets you keep your eyes open to do other things, and if you've suffered from dry eyes or needed warm compresses, you'll know how much time you wasted just sitting there... waiting for the warm compress to be over. That doesn't happen with this!! I like to blink my eyes hard a lot to help push exercise the lids and clean em up with the steam. These guys are comfortable enough to let that happen, and I think the steam hitting your eyes helps a lot more than closed eyes compresses. +1 to the comfort and ease of use as well. I brought these to a hotel with me really easily. Just needs the device itself and a portable charger! Definitely take a chance on these if you suffer from dry eyes... it changed my life. Read more
