I'm an avid home gardener, and start 100's of plants each spring from seed. One of my Worst chores however is cleaning the seed starting trays and pots at the end of the season. I hate cleaning them but I equally hate throwing them away and buying new ones. I gravitated to using different grow bags for much of my seed starting Including germinating some seeds hydroponically and transferring the seedlings to grow bags once germinated) to reduce my dependence on plastic pots. But there are some plants that have long root systems like sweet peas, fennel and delphiniums which really need to germinate and grow on in a single pot. So for those I still use plastic pots or root trainers, which I wash every year. They are getting pretty ratty now and I'll need to replace them so I'm going to try these BudCups. These Budcups are pricey, but I'll keep these for several years, and the time and effort to get plants to grow is a much greater expense. The cups are designed for top watering only, because the base sits about a quarter inch from the bottom of the cup. I like that there are 3 Teeny holes (and I mean really teeny) along the edge of the removable base so that I would be able to look at the bottom and if I see white roots sticking out, it's time to re-pot or get the plants in garden. The plastic cups are super strong, almost like a drinking cup. In terms of size, they're similar to a solo cup. I have to admit, I love that these are dishwasher safe. If these do a decent job this spring, I may standardize on these for my long rooter seeds. I would love it if these were square instead of round, since squares are much more space efficient. I used to just melt holes with a soldering iron into solo cups and do seedlings that way but I would get lazy and not clean them causing issues eventually with damping off. With the bud cups I can wash with warm soap and water and h202 and not worry about them breaking. The way the bottom is makes transplanting a breeze. I got a set of both colors as I do 2 strains each germination session and it's easy to tell em apart. Read more
