Received an R5 Mk II clearly marked "For P.R.C. Only" on the box, with no Canon UK warranty and no warranty cards included. This could cause issues with future service or support, as Canon may refuse to work on grey imports. The item was returned and refunded, but this should’ve been made clear up front. Although I paid FULL price for this camera body I find out there is zero Canon Warranty with it and I wanted to avoid grey/black sales but wanted a real Canon Warranty and neither was put in the Ad and I think the sellers SHOULD add in the details if it has proper makes warranty or not, I find it just deceitful not to do so. I have sent the camera back for a FULL refund and will make sure next time I buy something like this to look deeper (although you should not have to) TRANSPARENCY is the key. The Canon R5 is one of the best cameras I have ever used in my production business. It’s versatile for both photo and video and has some impressive autofocus, dynamic range, and creative frame rates such as 120fps. You have the option for 8K with internal recording to the robust CF express type b port. Additionally, You can use your SD port for lighter media. In the industry I’ve seen this camera body used in photo and video capacity for weddings, real estate, business marketing, social media content, podcasts, portrait photography, interviews, sports, journalism and even wildlife. The R5ii offers all the same features as the original but not much else other than enhanced autofocus, slightly better photography frame rates which for a hybrid camera are impressive, C-Log 2 for professional video, (the R5 only offers C-Log and C-Log 3) and on forums people say it has better clarity and contrast than the R5. I haven’t really noticed much a difference though. Think of the upgrades compared to the next and new version of an iPhone. It’s new and shiny but not much different from the phone you just traded in. On the body, you’ll have an improved viewfinder, and a designated switch for photo and video mode. The original R5 had a more complicated interface for switching between stills and video. All and all, if you are looking to upgrade your camera bodies and you are looking to stay on a budget I’d highly recommend the original R5 as it will be much cheaper now. But the R5ii is a solid choice for professionals and hobbyists alike. Read more

I have been a loyal Canon customer for decades, upgrading my camera every so many years. A few years ago, I made the move from EF to the mirrorless RF system, gradually replacing my lenses in the new system. I have always been a happy Canon customer. Until today. I purchased the new R5 Mark II as an upgrade to replace my older R5, which I had purchased right when it first came out. But crazily, the R5 Mark II won't accept any of my existing batteries and appears to have a digital rights management to ensure that you only use the new E6P battery. This is insane - even when I moved from mirror reflex to mirroless, Canon allowed me to continue using my existing batteries. So not only is Canon forcing people to buy all new batteries, but the new batteries are not actually available. Every store has them backordered for months. How are serious photographers supposed to use the new camera if they have exactly one battery available, the one that came with it? I returned the camera to Canon for a refund. As it turns out, the images that come out of it are no better than those out of the original R5. So as a result of Canon's behavior, I will not be upgrading to the Mark II after all. And the next time I am looking for a new camera, it probably won't be a Canon. They just lost my loyalty and my business. Read more

I do product photography of patches, and to show off their beauty you have to take a photo from an angle. With its focus stacking capability and producing a composite image all within the camera this thing has turned a 20 minute per patch job into a 30 second job. It's an amazing camera very fast. I'm a retired pro photographer. I've use quite a few Canon, Nikon and Sony bodies. Before buying this one, I compared it to my Canon R5, and Sony A9II, my current favorite cameras. I bought this after reading about the autofocus capabilities, the pre-continuous focus feature, and a few other features Unlike some complainers here, I knew in advance that my older batteries, while they would work would not enable all features. No big deal. I also got the base model battery grip. Anyhow, I've loved the R5 and am keeping it, but the R5 II has those nice additional pro-ish features that are absolutely fabulous. The autofocus is at least as good or better than my Sony A9II. Not one complaint about how this camera performs, about grain, about the frame rate capability, about the new grip, or anything. I also like the time lapse feature where the camera creates the video of the frames, so I don't have to go into Photoshop to do that, as I do on my A9II. Super camera in all areas where I work, and that is in almost every area of image making. Read more
