I have made several 3 star difficulty models, but this was my first 4 star difficulty model. I am proud to say that, although it took me close to 12 hours in total to build, I made it and it works. If you are a beginner model builder, this may not be the project for you. Guns are not my thing, but I like to make models, and my son is an avid gun collector. I decided to make this model and give the finished model to him as a present. The kit contains just about everything needed to build the gun. Surprisingly, I did not need any glue, unlike some other models which definitely require it. As well as the accessories, the wooden parts are on 8 sheets of wood, marked A through I. There are numerous spare parts, none of which I needed, as I did not break anything. The instructions breaks the build into 10 stages, each of which has several steps. Stage 3 has the most steps and is probably the most complex, as it forms the main mechanics of the gun. After you complete stage 3, make sure the gun fires the provided rubber bands. If not, you may have to adjust your build until it works. Make sure that pieces are oriented in the correct direction and orientation. In places, I thought the directions could be clearer, but with careful rechecking I figured things out. On stage 3, you use steel shafts P13, which is 24mm long and P12 which is 23 mm long. Unless you use calipers, it is difficult to tell these two pieces apart. Just know that P13 has a smaller diameter than P12, and is therefore thinner. It took me a while to figure out which shaft to use. Overall this was not an excessively tricky piece to make. There are 315 pieces, which means that it takes time to build, but I like that, as I feel that a long build gives more entertainment than a short build. You do have to pay attention and make sure the pieces are properly and securely placed. I do hope that my son likes the final piece, but I feel he will like it because, if nothing else, his mom made it for him. Read more
