This monitor is advertised as an OLED screen... it is not. HDR is available if you turn the DCR setting to "on" in the monitor settings. Overall the build quality is great and the screen functions as expected. I'm disappointed in the lack of OLED which is why I bought the screen in the first place. The screen is advertised as OLED in the title and description of the product. Edit: it is OLED (it appears to be), I was viewing content that was not actually totally black and that skewed my assessment of the screen. It has very deep blacks and is an all around great screen. Was not positive that this portable 13.3" monitor came equipped with true OLED screen tech. I mean, the price didn't seem to match the technology offered. For an OLED? I asked myself that a lot. So, as it goes, with Amazon backing me, I ordered it. Two days later, it arrived with a beautiful front-of-the-box illustration. But could what’s inside really be true OLED? I was still questioning this. After a very careful unboxing, there it was: a beautiful, very lightweight, thin and portable 13.3" OLED with an edge-to-edge design! I mean, it is a top-notch, well-thought-out display quality, including port placement. No difficult or twisted cable ports in a poor physical choice for location. All ports are easily and readily accessible. The moment of truth arrived. Could this possibly be true OLED tech? Again, I wondered. There was only one way to be sure: plug it in! This item is not HDR. It does not appear to be 1080P. I suspect it is not OLED. I have tried it with multiple devices and none see it as HDR. On 1080P, pixels do not line up properly. Avoid this product at all costs. Read more

The 13.3 absolutely IS an OLED. Not sure why the box and pamphlet say IPS but all you need to do is look at the black levels and you can indisputably see it’s an OLED. Downside is it is only 1080p and 60hz. Read more

The VILVA 13.3 inch 1080p portable display is an actual OLED display because you can test it out multiple ways: Go to a pitch dark room and bring any IPS device like an old iPhone (SE2, SE3, iPhone 11, etc.). Find a pure black image or even a pure black video on youtube (yes these exists). You will see the display turn pitch black unlike super dark grey on IPS displays. The colors when set to "User" or sRGB, anything other than default which is heavy blue makes the display very vibrant. There's also "MURA" which are OLED flaws like faint streaks or greenish discoloration when showing darker scenes/videos. These flaws are different for every OLED panel. The one I got is fairly faint and very hard to see when you're not looking for it. Viewing angles are better than IPS. It is quite bright indoors at max brightness settings. For about $ 120, it's quite affordable but it does have a lot of quirks: The OSD is buggy. Sometimes it blacks out and resets itself when changing HDR, Variable Refresh, color space, etc. I had to replug it sometime because it would just be a pure black display with power lights on. I just stuck with SDR and messed with some of the OSD settings and I vastly prefer this over its HDR performance. Another YouTube reviewer also mentioned this but on a different OLED monitor. The OSD is now BUGGED and became a basic GUI that have lost some of its features like changing color space, etc. Still looks great. Never got VRR to work because it just resets the OSD everytime I use it. I'd rate it lower to 4 stars due to the buggy OSD if this was priced anywhere higher than $ 120. While far from perfect, the display is amazing for $ 120 and I do have experience with many types of displays like IPS, VA, FALDS, wOLED, Super AMOLED, etc. Read more

The sheer quality of this display, especially for the price, cannot be understated. Vibrant colors, perfect contrast, and surprisingly very very bright. I don't think the advertised 500nits is a lie. For $120, this OLED portable monitor is genuinely impressive. Absolutely perfect for Nintendo Switch, and a great secondary monitor. I love this monitor. I had another portable OLED that was more expensive and this monitor could be priced at twice the price and I wouldn't bat an eye. Read more
