I love most of normcore's products because they are smart inventions, very well made, and the design and aesthetics of each product is very nice. I have experience with a few of their products and so I was excited to try this product. This product basically helps you to eliminate clumps in your espresso grind and to provide a more consistent distribution into your portafilter. With this product, I can get rid of my needle distribution tool because this allows me to do what the needle distribution tool does, which is to get rid of lumps in the grind. The build quality of this thing is very nice as usual. The metal is nice and smooth and it just looks very sleek and modern. The weight is nice and it doesn't feel light and cheap. One thing I wish they included though was instructions on how to use this and what it actually does. I think it's more of an assumption that the consumer knows what this thing does when purchasing it. So, this isn't really a beginner type of tool but rather it's for someone who is in The hobby of coffee making and wants to continue to improve their craft. This product seem to work fine and has helped my shots be better and more consistent. If anything, it has just simplified my workflow and I have less tools out. This is one of the first Normcore products to mildly disappoint me. I already own/use another blind shaker tool, and therefore have a baseline to compare against.. I ordered this one to see how Normcore, who makes very well engineered coffee prep tools, may have improved on this tool. And yes, there are areas where said improvement exists - how all the different components go on together with precision via built-in magnets. One of the components that makeup the shaker comes apart (held via magnets) to serve as a funnel - brilliant and valuable if you don't already own a funnel! But overall, I find that I don't prefer to use this one over the one I already own (MHW-3BOMBER) - reasons for which I'll go over: 1. In spite of all the magnets employed on this unit, they neglected to employ magnets where it mattered the most - on the lid! This prevents a tight fit and completely dissuades confidence when using it. You just can't give it a good proper shake without fear of coffee grounds flying everywhere - happened to me multiple times. The lid and the bell comes loose far too easily and does not inspire confidence. Even if not utilizing magnets, the fit of these components should non-negotiably be tighter. 2. I find that coffee grounds hang back on this unit far more than my other blind shaker - as if its more prone to static somehow. After a (careful) shake, I like to tap the shaker on the counter-top a couple of times to get the grounds away from the walls of the shaker, to settle at the bottom and fall off easily into the portafilter. This practice is also does not fair well on this unit because occasionally, the shaker comes loose during said tapping - disastrous. The components need to fit tighter. Generally, I find myself drifting back to WDT over the blind shaker, 1 out of 4 times. Out of those times that I've used a blind shaker, I've probably used this one 1 out of 9 times. The Normcore 54mm 2-in-1 Magnetic Dosing Cup is a sleek and practical addition to any coffee enthusiast's arsenal. Its minimalist design and high-quality stainless steel construction make it a joy to use. Key Features and Performance: Shaker Function: This is where the cup truly shines. The shaking motion effectively distributes the coffee grounds, resulting in a more even distribution compared to traditional WDT methods. I tend to use a WDT at the end of shaking to even out the grinds. Static Cling: Like any metal dosing tool, the cup can attract static, causing grounds to cling to the surface. A quick tap or gentle brush is usually enough to dislodge them. Magnetic construction: I found raising the cup above a dosing funnel and letting the grinds fall into the portafilter to get the best distribution rather than using the magnetic portion. Overall, the dosing cup is a significant upgrade over traditional WDT methods. imo it's one of the more beautiful shakers on the market especially at the price point. I have no other shaker to compare to but this one works great for me. Some of the others on the market seem to reduce static cling which would be nice but they're also 2x the price. I also don't see the benefit of the magnetic section but this hasn't been a hinderance. I just think it would be cleaner without that additional split. Read more

The product is made out of metal and feels very sturdy. It does a fantastic job of funneling coffee grinds. It's definitely made making coffee less of a hassle. Please get a funnel. I didn't know that such a simple thing could make that much of a difference. It has four pieces: bottom, top (connected by magnet), lid, and a packer (not sure what to call it). All the parts are metal. You can directly place it under a coffee grinder or just take the top and use as a funnel. Read more
