If your'e a long-time Keychron fan (I have like 6 of their mechanical keyboards) this will be unusual for you. It's not a mechanical keyboard. It's a low-profile chiclet keyboard like a laptop. That said, it is very well executed, and it works well. I really like it, and it's both quiet and aesthetically pleasing. I've been wanting to try out a Keychron keyboard for some time now, and when I saw it one come up for review, I had to get it. Now this is not really the type of keyboard I was wanting, but since it is different than my others, that is good in it's own way. This is a very thin keyboard, and flat, no legs to adjust height or angle, similar to a flat laptop keyboard. It is not mechanical, but also not membrane, they call it a scissor mechanism, either way it feels more like a membrane keyboard. If you leave the silicone cover over the keys it really feels like membrane and to me very weird, worse than my actual waterproof rollable silicone keyboard I own. I've been using the keyboard without the silicone cover for a few weeks now for work to really get some time in with it. I like that it has F-keys, which I need for work, but there is one major oddity with this keyboard I've never seen, nor has anyone I work with seen either. It has an F13 key, there is not "F13 key" with unix or mainframes, keyboards have F1-F12, then for F13-F24 you reuse the same 12 keys with Shift. I have seen keyboards decades ago that actually have two rows of F-keys and had F1-F24, that is the only time I've seen an F13, but this one only has F1-F13, which makes it very unique and odd. In practice the F13 doesn't do anything, my work systems don't recognize it, so I still use Shift+F1 for F13. It has a 10key pad which I also use a lot for work. Since this thing is so thin and flat, I had to put some pieces of wood under it to raise it up so I could still use my wrist pad and get a comfortable typing position. It is very quiet to type on, they keys are nearly silent. It has taken me awhile to get used to using this keyboard as I was using a loud and cheap mechanical keyboard which the keys on this one are much closer together and a much shorter key stroke to press them. I've been using it wired, but it has the option for wireless, both 2.4ghz or BT, I may take this keyboard with me to use while doing some charity work and connect it to my laptop as I hate typing on the laptop as I am always accidentally hitting the touch pad, and this keyboard will eliminate that issue. I've not tried using any of the key programming software so I can't speak to that at this time, I may play with that at some point but not now. Also I've only used it in windows mode, as I don't have any macs. Overall not a bad keyboard for the price, you get a lot of functionality along with having all the keys you need, without being overly long and taking up a lot of desktop space. Read more

My first impressions are that the keyboard is solid- it scores high points with its ultra-slim aesthetic. Now that I’m typing on it for this review, I’m not encountering any problems. I have it set to wired mode, and everything works fine after making sure I’m in the correct OS settings. I even did a keyboard reset (fn+J+Z) to double-check that everything was functioning. No problems. The keyboard is ZMK-compatible and, through the Keychron Launcher (launcher.keychron.com), lets you set up macros, remap keys, upgrade firmware, and more. All the keys tested fine, too. The setup is more or less like using the VIA web app. By default, the second layer includes multimedia keys along with a bunch of Windows app macros like Calculator, Windows Explorer, Task View, Search, Lock, and Windows Settings- all mapped to fn+F-row. Pretty convenient. The typing experience definitely reminds me of the Dell keyboard I used back in school. That was a rubber dome keyboard, and these scissor switches feel kind of similar. It’s also super quiet, which is a nice bonus. Sure, it’s not a mechanical keyboard, but the scissor switches sort of feel like they’re halfway there. It’s definitely a step up from the old rubber domes of my childhood. Objectively, I didn’t experience any of the bugs or issues I’ve heard about from others. I couldn’t reproduce the stuff people mentioned on social media, so go figure. It just works for me. My overall impressions match my first impressions: this keyboard is solid, customizable, and looks great on a clean desk (something I still struggle with). I wouldn’t say it’s ideal for gaming since Keychron specifically notes it doesn’t have NKRO, but as a full-size option for workspace aesthetics and customization, it’s a great choice. I've had the MX keys keyboard and although backlit keys are cool they drain the battery significantly faster. This keyboard's about as full size as you can get, I was a bit disappointed that the ability to customize the key shortcuts seems yet to be developed by 3rd party sources, and Keychron's software, which is all online, was a bit cumbersome to work with. I just got this keyboard and the build quality is excellent. I'm typing this review on it and so far I couldn't be happier. The materials are excellent and it's functionality is A+++. I also have a Logitech MX Keys keyboard that I use at my home workstation. It is also a great keyboard, but it cost about twice as much as this Keycrhon version, which is very comparable in both build and quality. I'm an editor/animator and I have a Mac and Windows workstation at my office side by side that I have to switch back and forth from...This board is great because of the hot-switch on the front of it that enables you to easily switch back and forth between both OS's without having to remap any keys or reset anything when you jump back and forth between them. Can reco' highly enough. It's VERY worth the money...especially if you're a media professional. Read more
