Being able to alter the game volume and social volume means that you’re in control of the noise at all times. This means in tense situations you no longer have to deafen yourself to hear footsteps, you can mix the volume to the game on the fly. This has absolutely changed the game and made me a steelseries customer for life. You cannot go back to not having the chatmix. While not unique to the headset, the 7X provides a solid entry point to the steelseries experience. While on the pricey side the hardware makes up for it with amazing connectivity (no lag between video and sound), good clarity via sonar software and extreme functionality with dual Bluetooth and wireless connection. I’ve been all around the doors trying to find the best wireless headset for my PS5 and Series X. I’ve tried the recent A50X, Nova Pro Wireless, Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3, everything you can think of, I’ve tried them. For me, these have all the qualities of a top line headset, for half the cost. Yes the caveat is that these don’t have dual connections like the 3 I mentioned, but the dongle can be swapped between devices and unlike the ones above, the dongle can be used directly in a Switch or Steam Deck where the top line headsets would have to use Bluetooth. The sound quality is great out of the box. I’m hearing footsteps all around me in black ops 6 and siege. Once configured in Steelseries Engine or GG on a PC, the sidetone is fantastic, albeit with a very slight airy hiss (like most sidetones) but that disappears as soon as game audio starts. I just wish the sidetone volume was separate from the main volume wheel, as these get LOUD!! My previous Arctis 7X+ would be maxed out on headset and console. For these, I have the headset maxed for sidetone, but on Series X I have to drop volume to 50%. They are very loud. The stretchy headband is perfect for baldies like myself, the headset disappears when on, and you forget it’s there. You can’t go wrong with this. Read more

I bought these as a replacement to my husband’s oldies Steelseries 9X, which he loved to pieces. He enjoys their noise cancellation feature but that’s it. He cannot use them while they charge, and after they stop charging he has to restart his PC to recalibrate the microphone because it doesn’t work. He guesses that many incompatibilities and struggles might be caused by his old PC of 2016, he is still figuring it out. He is considering to repurchase the 9X ones as he was very content with them for PC gaming. Read more
