We bought our Ninja DB741a blender at Sam's Club a couple of years ago. Per the instructions, we sometimes used the dishwasher to clean the blender cups and blender blade base. I won't do that anymore, because that's what I think caused leaks and brown stuff and a loud grinding noise when making smoothies. After checking with Ninja, who recommended we buy a whole new blender or replace the base unit for $80-90, I did some research and found that they recommend replacing the blade base once or twice year. I took the chance that this was better than paying more to replace the motor base. IT WORKED. It seems that the gasket on the blade base can wear out, which can't be switched out, and it causes ball bearings to rust. That's where the brown stuff and the ungodly noise was coming from. Buy a replacement base if you start hearing loud noise or notice liquid in the base the blade cup sits in. This is a cheap alternative and this product worked perfectly! Read more
