The manufacture does the part sorting for you. All of the parts for step one is in bag one, step two in bag two and so on. This feature streamlines the building process. It took me about five hours to assemble the 248 pieces (by my count), the listing claims 300+ pieces. The kit also included a four-way spanner wrench, a screwdriver, and a pair of pliers and the instructions all in a nice tin box. What a cool model! This guy fits right in to my son's motif. Yea...I said motif! Don't make me say Feng shui...ugh...look what you made me do! Like others have said...this has very small parts. If you have a magnifying light and work with small objects, this is no problem. If you have a dexterous youngin that has the wherewithal to put this together...kudos! This thing is a beast! I absolutely appreciate how the parts are organized - each step has its own dedicated bag. I spent far less time hunting for pieces than other kits and was able to focus on building. However, the pieces are very small and with small tolerances. Every other kit labeled 16+ that I have ordered has components where my 9 year old could by be involved, but not so with this one. I especially struggled with the legs, which require bending metal to make room for small screw heads. Eventually got to the point of breaking pieces. Definitely for more advanced builders. Read more

This is an all metal wasp model kit. The metal wasp has a creative design and once assembled is about 3" in length. It is fun to play around with, however, most of the parts are very, very small. It contains very small parts and should be kept completely out of the reach of small children as these parts present a chocking hazard. The small size of the parts also means that the user will need to have some dexterity to be able to assemble it. The product comes in what appears to be an aluminum (possibly tin) case that is approximately 6" x 4" x 2" in size. The case is wrapped in plastic with the product sticker (description) affixed to that plastic [wrap]. The label is not affixed to the metal case so once the plastic is removed no markings or stickers detailing the contents of the metal case will remain on the case. The parts for the wasp are separated into individual plastic bags that are collected inside a single plastic bag that is inside of the metal case. Now, depending on the temperament and ability of the user, the toy may take a few full hours to completely assemble. And once it is assembled I would not recommend allowing small children to play with it as some of the parts are hand fastened and may come loose. It looks pretty cool once assembled though! It is a novel toy and, if part of a set, would make for an interesting display. I do think it is a bit on the pricy side, hence, why I think a set would have a bit more appeal. I assembled this with my daughter and her husband, and it was a fun and challenging experience. The 300-plus pieces offered enough complexity to keep us engaged for several hours, and the end result is a unique steampunk-inspired model that looks great as a display piece.
