I've been tuning pianos for 40 years and took a chance on getting this as I ordered another carbon tuning lever from another supplier that took 2 weeks to arrive and was very disappointed with the tips that came with it as they were very bad quality. While it looks nice, and the materials feel solid, unfortunately there is a major design flaw: The tip unscrews from the handle. As a result, any time you try and tune a peg lower, the tip unscrews, and you can't tune it down. There's no fixing this: I used a crescent wrench to tighten the tip into the handle as much as possible, first time trying to lower a note, it came right back unscrewed again. This is a Chinese knock-off of a Fujan tuning lever. I'm an amateur tuner and basically only tune my own pianos, every once in a while I'll tune a friend's. I was previously using a Levitan utility lever which seemed quite good, stiff and responsive, but did not really like the feel of the lever, hard to put into words. It was a combination of the slightly small size coupled with the very utilitarian, somewhat uncomfortable handle (just my personal opinion). Wanted to try a Fujan lever, but can not afford it as a non-professional. The quality of this knock-off is quite good. It's lightweight, extremely stiff, had a very nice tip, very nice and comfortable wood handle. The threaded aluminum mating points for the different pieces are machined very well and very secure when screwed in. It's aesthetically quite pleasing, all very nice brushed aluminum finish, polished fiberglass, high quality handle wood. Overall they did a good job of paying attention to detail. I can't speak on a 1-1 comparison with a Fujan lever, maybe a professional tuner could point out some minor differences. But, I like it a lot more than my Levitan. I'm able to control the pin better, and tune more quickly, and it's more comfortable. This lever is now my daily driver and I haven't really used the Levitan since I've got it. Read more
