I had the original Satechi Mac mini hub in space grey for my 2018 Mac mini. So when I updated to the 2023 Mac mini, it was a no brainer to also update to the latest version of this hub, this time in silver to match to the new mini, and with the addition of the M.2 SATA SSD slot. As expected, it is a perfect fit with the Mac mini sitting in the cavity at the top of the hub. While the speed of the USB ports are only 5Gb/s, that more then enough for my uses, especially with the convenience of having easily accessible ports on the front. Also, it just plain looks good with the Mac mini. I installed a Western Digital 3D NAND 2TB M.2 SATA SSD in the available slot at bottom of the hub, and it works flawlessly. Be sure you install an M.2 SATA SSD. M.2 NVMe SSD’s, despite looking almost the same, will not work. Look for 2 notches on the end for the SATA SSD where the contacts are, instead of 1 on NVMe’s. The Satechi Hub/stand fits the MacMini very well. It has an NvMe space for storage expansion. It has one USB-C port and with 3 USB-A ports plus Secure Digital card ports. The storage expansion accounts for the $99 price since the ports are fairly standard. It works well and looks good matching the M series Mac Minis. Read more

I've enjoyed using the old model of this for my Mac Mini for 2yrs. So when the new 10Gbps came out, I decided to buy one for my Mac Studio. The old one supported internal SSD SATA drive storage, which was Perfect for Time Machine Backup on my Mini. I love that feature, and the new one even better. Aside from redesigning the case for improved air-flow around and under your Mac... the unit also dropped the old interal SATA port in favor of support for the newer faster internal NVME M.2 drives. And that's huge because now I can use it as an audio editing work drive in my studio and not just for static storage or Time Machine Backup. I love it. I would definitely buy it again. Update: downgrading further as I notice a drop in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity when this hub is connected to my Mac mini m2. The color is grayish and not the same as the Mac mini, the texture is also different and feels like plastic. Read more
