The Device it’s self was nice and compact, when I first used it and tested it for some time it worked well. Later on I noticed audio dropping randomly while playing music or on a call. Check for any updates but there were none. If the connection was more reliable/stable I could say it’s 5 stars. But it needs some work maybe software wise from Carlinkit. Read more

If you are having a aftermarket android screen without carplay/android auto, this works best for you. It enables the option for wired/wireless carplay/android auto on the same screen. It rarely stops at times, which can be resolved by plugging off & on the device. Read more

I just received this box a couple days ago and I'm so impressed I had to write a review. I bought this to try on my 2021 Indian Roadmaster. The bike only supports wired Apple Carplay and I have an Android phone. I plugged this in and it was recognized instantly and booted up in about 20 seconds. Everything worked great. I downloaded some of my apps from the Play store and they installed and worked great also! Then I tried the wireless Android Auto feature using the Autokit app. I found out that my phone (Galaxy S7) doesn't support wireless Android Auto but after Googling for a solution I enabled developer options and turned on "project screen" option and now it works great! I also pulled the sim card (Verizon) out of my phone and put it in this box to see if it would connect to the network and it did! Awesome!!! To answer one of the questions above there is an option to use it as a hotspot. I didn't try it but I think it also depends on your phone plan as to whether that can be enabled. Overall VERY impressed with this box! All the apps I tried worked well and the system seemed quite responsive. I would definitely recommend this for a wireless option or for someone, like me, who only has Apple Carplay available. Read more

I purchased and installed this product last month in my 2015 BMW 328i. It was a great way to add CarPlay to my 2015 BMW 328i. Installation: The video in the product description was a great help. Connections to the unit are easy. However, some of the OEM cables are difficult to work with. Like another Amazon customer indicated in their review, be patient and work the cables out. The video cable was a pain to get off the screen! Once it comes out, everything else follows accordingly. The cable to the right of the faceplate would not come off for me. I just left it connected while I installed everything else. I have the Harmon Kardon unit (larger than the stereo in the video) so I had to look up an additional video on removing the glove box. I placed the unit in the cavity to the right of the stereo. That wasn't too bad. It adds to the install time but is straightforward. One very important detail left out of the video is to transfer the fiber optic cable. This is how the time and date are updated. If you don't do this, you will have a maintenance warning sign and it will say that you need to update the time and date. The instructions that come with the unit aren't the greatest. (Even though they actually mention the fiber optic cable removal in them). With multiple videos, I was able to get everything installed. Operation: I followed the instructions to turn off the bluetooth and connect to the WIFI. It's possible that I missed something but I leave everything on. I haven't tried mirroring but the bluetooth works fine. My unit won't work without the bluetooth being on. This makes some things tricky like calls and music. Calls play through the car's bluetooth (not the CarPlay). Music plays through the CarPlay. Without the bluetooth, I couldn't hear anything from navigation apps, Siri, etc. You will definitely need to adjust the sound through the equalizer. Especially the bass. The unit somewhat "forces" a navigation app to be on when you turn the car on. So you will see a blue oval in the top left corner of your phone when the car is on. I still have yet to play with the other feathers but I'm very satisfied with the CarPlay. Wireless is a great plus! When I logged into the app, I noticed two other devices listed besides my phone, likely from the previous owner(s). Cons: Music stutters occasionally, about 3-4 times during a 20-minute commute, which gives the impression that the device might be defective. For the price I bought it I should have gone for something that was just a usb stick instead of a wired dongle. The usb c sometimes comes loose and disconnects with slight touch annoying especially considering it’s really close to my cars’ inbuilt wireless charger and while putting my phone it kinda moves it . BUT otherwise great connectivity sometimes it’s even connected before I sit down in my car from the time I unlock my car.
