This is a good, sturdy, solid-feeling, compact tripod. With my DSLR with 18-200mm lens (which is heavy and of unbalanced weight when attached to a quick-release plate), it is quite steady in all tripod configurations. The tripod is made of attractive black aluminum, and it fits nicely in the included well-padded zippered carrying case. One of the tripod legs has a foam covering for easy grip, and the tripod itself has a nylon handle, which is nice for carrying it around outside the case or holding the tripod steady while locking the camera position. It has a bubble level. The center top pole can be removed from the tripod to use as a monopod. When you do that, you do not have a grip to handle it; your are holding it by the aluminum pole. A couple reasons I did not give this five stars. First, the telescoping legs are locked with screw locks, which I do not like as well as clamp locks. Several times as I was reconfiguring the tripod, one of the leg locks became loose and the telescope started extending. That does not happen with clamp locks. Second, as you spread the legs, there is no lock to hold them in place. Where each leg joins the body, there is something that looks like it should lock the angle in place, but it does not. The legs take a fair amount of pressure to change the angle, so there currently does not appear a high likelihood that the angles will change inadvertently, but I wonder how tight they will be after significant usage. this tripod is high quality, tall, and stores really neatly. The only thing I don't love is the handle to move the mount around is plastic but that really doesn't matter or affect the function. I would buy SmallRig products again. Read more

Looking for a sturdy durable tripod. It is very close to being that but is a shame that the leg locks are concerning because they are loose and don't engage with any sort of spring or confidence. I am afraid it is not going to stay engaged and the whole thing is going to fall over. Read more
