Pros: - Great sound quality - Great battery life - Good noise cancelling Cons: - The amazing memory foam ear tips disintegrated after 6 months of use and I couldn't find a good replacement. - Cannot restart or shut down without the case, which means you could run into some issues if you don't wanna carry the case everywhere you go: 1. Sometimes when taking the earphones out of the box, one if them fails to start and if you don't have the case with you, you can't really restart it and you're stuck using one earbud. 2. Even if they work correctly, after placing the earbuds without the case in your pocket or somewhere, you come back and one of them is off with no way to start it without inserting it and taking it out of the case. - Sometimes placing the earphones in the case doesn't correctly shut down and it stays connected to my phone until I open the case and wiggle them around a bit to get them to connect to the metal pins. However, this problem isn't really that bad if you take them out of the case and make sure they're both working and going for a jog or the gym they will never fail. I bought these mainly as an upgrade from my Soundcore A40 earbuds, which I’ve grown to appreciate after experiencing the underwhelming XM5. The sound quality is definitely better than the $40 earbuds (shocking I know!) but it’s nowhere near good enough to justify the price. The biggest letdown for me is the so-called best noise cancellation in the history of noise cancellation. It’s there, but (again) it’s underwhelming and nowhere close to the hype. Even the stupid A40 is better in that regard. I tried different ear tip sizes, but the result was the same: Just a “that’s it?!” kind of disappointment. Took me a while to do so, but I finally bought these earbuds - and they really are as good as people claim it to be. I've had it for a couple of days so far, and the ANC is spectacular (as I've come to expect from Sony), sound quality is great and the battery holds up for about 6.5h per charge (the case recharges them about 2-3 times, so you can easily get close to 20h without having to charge the case). It comes with 4 different foam eartips, and I found the fit to be very comfortable. I don't notice the weight or shape of the buds when I am wearing them, unlike with my previous Galaxy Buds Pro 1. These Sony earbuds are the best I have tried out of the following brands / models that are all in the $250 - $300 range: - Samsung Buds 3 Pro - runner-up to Sony, but failed after a few months and would only allow multi-connections with other Samsung products. I struggled getting these to work on airplanes, even with my bluetooth adapter because these other connections are not Samsung, however, if you are using Samsung products these are great! Nowhere near the battery life of the Sonys, though, struggling to get 4 hrs with ANC on. - Technics AZ100 - tied for 2nd place with Samsung Buds3Pro - and are a worthy competitor to the Sony's with a couple exceptions - a) these struggle to hold a BT connection in busy places, such as airports or airport lounges, and, b) the noise cancelling does not work well on airplanes, rather, they actually magnify conversation sound from seats around you - very weird. Nonetheless, if you use noise cancelling earbuds for travel, these won't suffice for these two reasons. - Sennheiser Momentum 4 True Wireless - nice sound, but noise cancelling struggles outside, particularly in the wind. No wireless charging - just not worth the price tag - even with a steep discount. - Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra - great sound, but horrible app experience with an Android phone. Would lose connections with the app and often with the phone altogether, requiring you to remove the app, reinstall, redo your settings. This happened each of the 3 days I owned them, so they quickly went back. I don't have time for these, but I did get to fly with them, and the noise cancelling is the best - and the Sonys are equally as good. Now to the Sony WF-1000XM5s - These sound awesome, fit well, and have excellent noise cancelling. They also shine where each of the above struggled: easy to connect and manage multiple connections, really work well on airplanes, have great smart features that learn and react to different environments and help set the equalizer. These are well-worth the money, even at full price. I would much rather pay full price for a product that works well and does not frustrate me. Each of the above work well in certain conditions, but don't perform well in all categories like the Sonys, and, in my opinion, are not worth the price, even with a discount. The only negative I see is the ear tips - they are not as comfortable as some of the others, but this can be remedied by purchasing after-market tips. I grabbed the unit, plugged it into my ear and felt ... nothing. Humming of machines, slight echoes of objects around. Perhaps a faulty unit? Good sound quality notvgreat, and the case unit was smaller than I expected. I own Sony's WH1000XM5 (over the head version) and they are the best especially for calls. Drawbacks are size, and sweaty ears due to insulation. Make sure to use it in a cooled place so it wouldn't bother later. The older version is just as good and comes packed with more accessories so just that in mind. In or around ear canal options are better for pocketing the device or packing in a small bag, and they are great for not getting attention - as if the bulky looking device in the middle of your ear is fine! I bought these earbuds thinking I'm upgrading from my current Sony WF-C700N, especially since ANC is my top priority! These earbuds are promoted as the best ANC earbuds but honestly, they're NOT! My current Sony WF-C700N are noticeably better in terms of isolating the noise of my surroundings in different environments. Everything else is great, amazing sound, smooth connection to my iPhone, better tips, longer battery life. But why does any of this matter if you can hear everything around you as is, with no reliable Noise cancellation? Looking forward to the MX6 version. Read more

I had the xm4s previously and got these ones to upgrade from prime day. The design is much smaller and better, the comfort is incomparable to the xm4s as these you can forget are in your ears. The build quality is great and everything feels sturdy (minus the case) and the touch controls are better than the previous version. Overall these are amazing earbuds. A lo largo de mi vida, el audio y la música se convirtieron en mi uno de los dos temas más centrales en mi entretenimiento y en mis momentos de paz. Es importantísimo para mi el tener un buen audio y tener una experiencia de disfrute continuo cuando escucho música, ya sea descargada o en streaming, así que gasto una buena parte del dinero que tengo en mi equipo de audio para asegurarme justamente eso. Esto me ha llevado a tener una experiencia en primera mano muy amplia, desde reproductores de alta resolución dedicados [DAPs], hasta pequeños dispositivos de audio que se conectan por USB-C y te permiten escuchar tu música sin pérdida... Cuando pruebas de todo, y haces de todo, te esclareces fácilmente sobre el uso de ciertos productos, sabes que es lo mejor para ti dependiendo cada caso concreto y buscas la mejor solución posible dadas tus necesidades. Es en este panorama, que me encontraba en búsqueda de algo que me ofreciera justo ese algo que me era faltante; 1.- La cancelación de ruido activa. Debido al transporte hacia mi trabajo, y a algunas zonas muy conflictivas en tráfico y en movimiento de personas, ya me encontraba escuchando mi música con volúmenes que son preocupantemente altos para la salud auditiva de muchas personas. Para saber si es tu caso, en la noche, sin que exista ninguna clase de ruido a tu al rededor, ponte tus audífonos actuales al mismo volumen en el que los tenías usando en el metro / camión, para que te des cuenta de lo realmente fuer que escuchas las cosas. He usado mi Watch para demostrar que en ciertas secciones puedo alcanzar con facilidad los 100 dB de ruido ambiente. Así pues, fue por investigación y muchas opiniones que he llegado a estos audífonos, mismos que ya he usado durante varias semanas. Podría pasarme 20 horas blando de sus ventajas y desventajas... pero creo que puedo resumir todo en los siguientes puntos a destacar, dividiendo todo en las cosas que son muy buenas y en aquellas cosas en las que considero deben mejorar urgentemente. LO MEJOR DEL PRODUCTO. 1.- Cancelación de ruido. Solo tengo una palabra para describirla; Absurda. Tiene una personalización de miedo desde la aplicación de Sony, puedes suprimir absolutamente todas las fuentes de ruido, mientras que a la par puedes configurar para que deje pasar las voces humanas sin restricciones. Tiene modos personalizados en donde con solo pronunciar unas palabras al aire, el audífono reconoce tu voz, y pausa toda la música y deja de cancelar todo el ruido para que tengas una conversación normal con cualquier otra persona mientras los tienes en uso, evitando que tengas que quitártelos continuamente. Si bien hay pequeños ruidos muy específicos que suelen pasarse de la supresión, la diferencia entre tenerlos puestos y no tenerlos es abismal, sobre todo en zonas con una cantidad de ruido elevada. 2.- BT de dos bandas. Gracias Sony por pensar en la gente que trabaja de forma remota y escucha música. ¿Estás a punto de entrar a una reunión en tu laptop, y estás escuchando música mediante tu teléfono? No pasa nada, puedes emparejar este producto a 2 dispositivos SIMULTÁNEAMENTE, para ahorrarte el problema de quitar el emparejado de alguno de ellos. Sumado a ello, si ambos dispositivos tienen la aplicación instalada [por ejemplo, un teléfono Android y uno con iOs], haciendo uso de tu cuenta de Sony puedes traerte exactamente la misma configuración de; Gestos, Reducción de Ruido, Códec de conexión, preferencias en reproducción, etc. Todo con 2 botones y de forma automática. 3.- El estuche de plástico. En el pasado había tenido la oportunidad de probar audífonos de las mismas características, pero este es el primero en donde el estuche se siente verdaderamente premium. El imán de cerradura acciona a una distancia media y es fuerte, al mínimo movimiento de apertura el audífono es activado y se empareja rápidamente con el último dispositivo de escucha. Los imanes dentro de cada audífono son lo suficientemente fueres como para que literalmente, les avientes dentro del empaque y estos quedarán acomodados con facilidad. 4.- Respuesta de ecualización. Gratamente sorprendido por la respuesta de la ecualización del driver de 6 mm que incluye este producto. Ecualizar, es algo que cualquiera con software puede hacer en cualquier momento, pero si el Driver simplemente no es capaz de reproducir aquellos cambios y variaciones que nosotros agreguemos, la música se escuchará sobresaturada en aquellos puntos en donde subimos mucho la respuesta en frecuencias. Es el mismo efecto cuando un automóvil con un subwoofer pasa muy pero muy cerca de nosotros; a.- No escuchas la canción b.- No se distinguen las voces c.- Los agudos son inexistentes. d.- Solo escuchas y sientes el golpeteo de los sub-bajos. Aquí, este Driver demuestra estar a la altura de la ecualización al no sobresaturar el resto de frecuencias a pesar de que te pongas como tonto a mover la gráfica. Es un punto muy bueno a mencionar aquí, porque encontrar eso en In-Ears es muy extraño y peculiar. 5.- El producto está realizado con plásticos reciclados y el empaque es 100% de papel. Lindo detalle que no debemos pasar por alto, ojalá todos aprendan de esto. COSAS A MEJORAR. 1.- Almohadillas para los oídos. Aquí me lleve una decepción gigantezca... ¿Cómo Sony en su producto estrella entrega únicamente 4 pares de almohadillas? Amigos míos... le he comprado unos audífonos con cable a mi hermana, que salen literalmente al 10% del costo de este producto y nos traían 12 pares de almohadillas. En el audio portátil, en productos In-Ears, no hay nada más central, más importante, y no hay nada que afecte más a la calidad de sonido, que el filtro final del In-Ear con su almohadilla. Este es el primer producto que encuentro en literal, décadas, que nos pega el filtro final de audio con el de las almohadillas y esto me parece un error garrafal de cara a la calidad de sonido y a la longevidad del producto. Si no pones ese filtro, el usuario puede cambiar de almohadillas y puede llenar de cera de oído el driver, dañandolo o al menos, modificando su respuesta a ciertas frecuencias o movimientos. Y bueno, eso es a nivel Driver... ¿Y el ajuste para las personas? ¿De verdad Sony piensa que poniendo XS, S, M, y L en tamaños de puntillas, TODOS VAN A TENER UN SELLO PERFECTO para aprovechar la cancelación de ruido? Si los audífonos no te sellan a la perfección, da igual que tengan el mejor sistema activo de cancelación de ruido, el audífono se te queda inútil porque no puede funcionar correctamente al voltear las ondas que llegan a la oreja. Yo he tenido la pésima fortuna de tener canales auditivos que son demasiado grandes como para que entre la talla M, pero demasido pequeños como para que la talla L entrara, provocando que tenga que recurrir a almohadillas que tengo guardadas de otros audífonos. Aquí quiero dejar la nota importante de que si la almohadilla no es de espuma con memoria, entonces TE ES INÚTIL, el audífono falla estrepitosamente al intentar cancelar ruido si no tienes una de estas puntillas... y lo peor, es que Sony lo sabe porque sus almohadillas son todas de ese material, pero al incluirnos tan pocas alternativas, no deja de quedar mal. 2.- Estabilidad de conexión con estándar LDAC. No sé porqué SONY sacó al mercado su codec LDAC si FUERA DE SUS PRODUCTOS este es completamente inutilizable. Me explico... he usado este dispositivo de audio con los siguientes dispositivos compatibles con el codec LDAC del BT; 1.- Laptop profesional HP del año 2023 2.- DAP Sony NWWM1AM2 Walkman del año 2022 [al que le hice reseña por cierto] 3.- Teléfono Galaxy A35 5G del año 2024 4.- PC armada con placa BT Intel, del año 2021 Mi sorpresa es que en todos los casos, el único en donde LDAC parece ser estable, o lo suficientemente utilizable, es con el DAP NWWM1AM2... Lo cual me parece un completo sin sentido. El producto debería ser 100% aprovechable por cualquier con acceso a los estándares de comunicación, y este no es el caso. 3.- Cable de carga. Solo vean la foto... mide 5 cm... ¿cómo piensan que la gente carga sus audífonos BT? ¿Conectando eso a una laptop mientras trabajamos o como va esto? Es compatible con carga inalámbrica y rápida, cosa que se agradece... Pero preferiría que me hubieran dado muchas más puntillas que un cable que jamás se va a utilizar. 4.- No son recomendables para hacer ejercicio haciendo uso de codecs de transferencia más nuevos. ¿Contradictorio, no? Esta es la razón principal por la que muchísimas personas compran estos productos. Para tener la libertad de poderse salir a correr o al gimnasio sin preocupación de cables que les estorben en sus actividades. Bueno... después de muchos intentos puedo confirmar que bajo actividad física fuerte, la conexión no es del todo estable a menos a que bajes a BCB en Android. Porque incluso, en iOS que usa su propio estándar [ACC], o en cualquier codec superior, ya sea el audífono izquierdo o el derecho pierden comunicación, desconectándose del todo del dispositivo. Esto cancela la reducción de ruido y evidentemente cancela la música... Afortunadamente en codecs de bajos KBPS es posible conectar automáticamente pasado un segundo o dos, pero para aquellos codecs de mayor transferencia de información es requerido volver a guardar ambos audífonos en la caja, para cerrar todo, y volver a empezar de cero. BATERÍA Un punto a tomar en cuenta a parte es justamente la batería. Ya que siempre es un tema central en este tipo de dispositivos. Primeramente, no cumplen con lo que menciona Sony en su página web, pero de que se queda cerca, se queda cerca, la autonomía está bastante bien ajustada entre las 10 u 11 horas con volumen medio y cumplen muy bien en este apartado... Esto, claro, tomando en cuenta las 3 cargas y medias que te brinda el estuche para los 2 audífonos. Sabiendo esto, pueden estar en paz sabiendo que jamás les dejará tirados, pero tomen en cuenta que después de cierto umbral crítico, el auricular te hará saber con un sonidito que desactivará todas las funciones extras, y nada más reproducirá música... Este punto se alcanza por ahí del 5% de carga. CALIDAD DE SONIDO A ver... no le puedo pedir mucho, es un producto POP. - No está enfocado a calidad de audio de nivel superior - Sus prestaciones y publicidad se centran más en todo lo extra del paquete, más que en el sonido de los audífonos en si mismos. - Ni por asomo tiene un driver con capacidades reales de reproducción de audio de buena fidelidad. Aclarado lo anterior... Podemos resumir su sonido como; Satisfactorio. Cumple muy bien, y nada más. No le va a cambiar la existencia a nadie, ya que se centra en escuchas muy prolongadas en viajes en avión, en tren, en transporte público... Pero de que cumple con suficiente detalle, lo hace, sobre todo en los medios más bajos. Si tuviera que ponerme muy quisquilloso, a este audífono le hicieron un corte ultra notorio en la zona media de los agudos y en los agudos más avanzados... Esto es 100% entendible y natural, hay frecuencias por ahí que generan fatiga auditiva y es mejor que falte algo ahí, y no algo más abajo... Pero después de probar audífonos cableados, la diferencia es bastante notoria. Otro desacierto en la forma en la que están afinados estos audífonos creo yo, está en los medios altos, ya que cuando pasamos a voces femeninas agudas, de inmediato sabes que hay algo carente ahí... El último punto faltante aquí, es la zona profunda de los bajos, ya que aún que estos se escuchan y se reproducen, carecen de lo que nosotros llamamos "frontalidad", es decir, no sentirán el golpeteo y a menos a que les busquen a conciencia, en muchas canciones estos son completamente eclipsados por los bajos de la zona media de la gráfica. La recomendación en este apartado, es poner el audífono en la ecualización personalizada y que ustedes busquen solventar las carencias que tiene el auricular, hasta que encuentren un punto en donde se sientan cómodos... Nuevamente, ESTE NO ES UN PRODUCTO ENFOCADO A CALIDAD DE SONIDO, y nunca dejaré de ser enfático en ese apartado, pero como mencioné en las ventajas, el audífono responde increíblemente bien a ecualización y no veo razones para que ustedes no jueguen con el hasta que encuentren un lugar en donde puedan disfrutar de toda su música. VEREDICTO Si te acostumbras con velocidad a hacer uso de los gestos [que van desde los 2 hasta los 4 toques en el mismo lugar] y mantienes una selección de puntillas ADECUADA A TI, es difícil encontrarle un competidor serio a este paquete. Indudablemente deja en pañales a los productos de Apple con cancelación de ruido, y por supuesto que está un paso más allá de aquellos productos que solo ofrecen audio por BT sin ningún extra añadido diferenciador. I always wanted to buy the Sony XM earbuds for a very long and this time I bought the XM5 which is the latest and I was very excited to use it. First Impression: I wasn't impressed with the first use of the earbuds. But after I used it for a few hours and compared with others... there was a visible difference in sound. I was expecting more on the noise cancellations and a visible difference between Passive noise cancellation and the actual Noise cancellation. The passive noise cancellation itself is too good, you have to put the ambient mode on to listen to people. The noise cancellation is balanced between Bass and treble and if you are not listening to anything, the uniformity of noise cancellation is not good, i.e, sometimes you can hear everything around like its Off, then you have to go through all three modes to enable it again. Ambient mode like how everyone says, feels unnatural. Calls feel like you are inside a tube and talking always. So far no one in the listening end has complained. So I guess the sound must be good. The music sounds good. The instrument separations are very good compared to the other earbuds which I use. The bass is shallow and I had to increase the clear bass to make it perfect for my ears. The only annoying thing I have until now with XM5 is the ear tips that have come up with it. Its little annoying to position it in your ears as it won't slide easily inside your ears and when you talk to others, you feel like it is going to fall down because it comes loose from the ears even with the tight fit ear tip. A little overview of what was my comparison against: I was using a cheap Huawei Freebuds 4i which is quite nice compared to the flagships of most companies and also a JBL LIVE 600btnc. The Huawei noise cancellation is quite very good when you think its priced like one-third/fourth the price of even Airpods Pro and it sounds amazing(Not as good as the Sony XM5) Is it worth the price: I would say, if you want premium earbuds, I think this is a good choice as it has the industry's best Noise cancellation(according to experts). The sound quality between my AirPods and the Sony WM’s is enormous, the depth of sound on the Sony’s are way beyond the AirPods. Both have connectivity issues, the AirPods being more troublesome when they choose to disconnect. However the AirPods are easier to use and less sensitive and the AirPods are more comfortable over a longer period of use. Final verdict, if audio quality is your priority the Sony option is notably ahead. Read more

They are different than XM4. XM4 blended music and frequencies and made almost any music bearable. These are "pure". Actually purest of purest. You watch gameplay from game - you hear how it was recorded and all the details, including all the defects. You listen to the favourite electronic track - and you hear noise behind vocal line. I always respected Sony for their quality, but these are too "pure" for me because they reveal obvious fact - there is not too much of perfect music in the world. Also mellow "Sony bass" - you know this soft subtle bass - is gone. It is harder to take them out from case because they are smaller and not that massive than previous model. They are good, but if you want to listen to various music and keep yourself satisfied you better stick to XM4. If you want to hear music blunt-fair, as it was recorded - this is the choice. Noise cancelling taken to the next level also. With XM4 you could hear strange noise, like from the toilet, in the background. These giving you absolute silence. Before buying these I used jabra elite actives 4 and 7, and Bose quiet comfort 2s. After losing the latter I decided to try the Sony earbuds, based on their billing by the manufacturer and on many review sites as a high-end noise cancelling earbud, comparable to (and apparently better than) the Bose quiet comfort earbuds. They are certainly in a similar price bracket. However, the two products do not even compare. The noise cancelling on the Sony earbuds is very poor, I think almost entirely the result of whatever seal you can create using the physical buds themselves (rather than as a result of sophisticated noise cancelling technology). To that point, it is difficult to find a fit that is comfortable and creates the desired noise cancelling effect. By contrast the Bose QC earbuds are very comfortable and offer excellent noise cancelling at many frequency ranges. Secondly, they are unreliable. In the 7 months I’ve had them, they have broken twice: first, something to do with the speakers, and second, now the battery in the case has died. I frankly can’t be bothered to have them serviced yet again. I have reverted to my cheap and cheerful Jabra elite active 4, which by the way are more comfortable and have better noise cancelling. As for the sound quality (while they actually worked) I can’t say whether they’re actively better or worse, one for the audio nerds but to my ears there’s no difference vs Bose and jabra. The only advantage that Sony ones have over the Bose QC 2s is multipoint connection, a bizarre oversight in the Bose. Overall: the Sony WF-1000XM5 is a bad product: poor noise cancelling, uncomfortable, and unreliable. Don’t fall for the scam reviews online, like I did - you have been warned. Read more

I was confused choosing one and I had tested countless earbuds including airpods, samsung buds, nothing earpod thing and more. This was the one I got satisfied. Yeah the brand is subject to each and everyone. This was my fit. And really enjoying using it. You'll be amazed of the quality of the sound it produces and the noise cancellation is in another level.
