Full disclosure, I’ve only had this product for about 30 minutes, but I am already so in love with it! I have used the Apple Magic Keyboard for the last 3 years and switched to this because I wanted the option to keep my iPad in portrait mode while typing. I received the keyboard very quickly. It was extremely easy to set up. I love the different options for the backlight color. I really love that it comes with a (silicone?) case for the iPad, so when you remove it from the keyboard completely, it is still protected, which the Apple Magic Keyboard doesn’t offer. I was struggling to figure out how to activate the warranty and contacted customer service and they got back to me instantly. Got the item earlier than expected. The item was sealed and is definitely brand new. It looks so sleek and it seems like the keyboard and the case are built to last. It perfectly fits my iPad Air 5th Gen. Though I think I got the old model because it has no pocket for the Apple Pencil, but that's okay. I tested all the keys and they are all responsive. Setting up is easy, I turned on the keyboard and connected the iPad Air with ease! Downside is that it's heavy, heavier than my MacBook Air. Hopefully, this'll lasts for as long as I need it. First, I would say this is 3.5 stars but I’m rounding up. I think it would be great for ~80% of people. Here’s what I like: - cost - it’s about a third the price of the official Apple product - full coverage - the magnetic thin case fully covers your iPad and the flap secures the Pencil - the keyboard - I love the backlit colors. The official product (for iPad Air anyway) doesn’t have that feature - battery life - the keyboard itself needs to be charged separately from the iPad however it seems to last forever. I’ve never had to recharge it in the ~month I had it Okay here’s what I don’t like, and why I ultimately decided to return it: - weight - about double the weight of the official keyboard. Having an Air was due to its size and weight and having a really heavy attachment negated that - Bluetooth vs auto connect - the Bluetooth lag isn’t too bad, but it’s not automatic and it slightly annoyed me. The worst part, though, was I felt it made the keyboard buggy (some keys didn’t work, had to reset/disconnect and reconnect. Now back to the weight, which I feel is the issue. While it’s great that it is very protective, it makes the iPad heavy to tote around. Since it has a magnetic thin case (I love this on its own tbh, I’d buy it) the magnet doesn’t stick to surfaces as advertised. Like, I would not trust this to just stick on my fridge. It’s not strong enough. Also due to the weight, I felt it made the device weight disproportionately distributed and sometimes it would topple back if I was trying to view at a certain angle. It also wouldn’t always stay at the angle I wanted because the case. After a couple weeks, you could begin to see the creases in the case which I did not expect. Finally, while the fit was great and I love that it’s basically a two in one case, it is super thick, about 50% thicker than the Apple Magic Keyboard. In sum, it’s a pretty great product for the price, but having had an Apple Magic Keyboard before for an iPad Pro I used to have and my partner also having the Magic Keyboard, I felt like mine was not as portable and decided to return. I think if I didn’t know any different I would have kept it, but it’s still solid and even in white it didn’t get dirty and was very easy to clean, which I appreciated. Read more

I am going to compare how I feel about this case to the product it is likely duping, the Magic Keyboard. I have never owned the product, but I have owned numerous Apple products, and I got some thoughts... The ESR case is wickedly good quality. The case has a satisfying, velvety smooth finish, and the keys are responsive and nicely spaced. I usually make lots of typos with these bluetooth keyboards, but this one is designed very nicely, for me. The whole aesthetic of the product is cool, and you can't beat the value vs the genuine article. The inclusion of a silicone case is a MASSIVE boon, and the main reason I chose the ESR over all other cases. Since I hate leaving the edges of the iPad unprotected in my bag, no other case would tick all the boxes. This, in my opinion, is the best that you can get for the aesthetic and the build quality. One con I can mention is that the weight of the iPad is substantially increased when using both parts of the case. If you were, say, also carrying a laptop or a lot of books with you, I would recommend not taking the entire setup with you, and picking between the silicone case or the keyboard and leaving the other behind. For those in the know, the Apple Pencil Pro loves this case. Despite all my other former 11" iPad cases causing issues when writing/drawing, this one plays very nicely with it. I have not experienced any issues, and hope it stays that way. I am so stoked to be able to stop looking for a case that will work for my needs. If you like the form factor of this case, and don't care about your keyboard charging your iPad or whatever, I say get this case. The value is unmatched. (Review on the white keyboard) The item I received is different from the photos posted. I believe I received the older model. Both Amazon and the company attempted to resolve the issue, but kept sending out the older model. After much back and forth with both parties I decided to keep the item. I got the White case, it has an inner case that cover the edges, easy to install, soft rubber but little stiff for protection. It has instructions to bluetooth. Magnet flap cover is magnetic to hold pen. It resembles Apples magic keyboard. Read more

To those saying the case is heavy, it’s a convertible and the only time the keyboard is attached is when I need the keyboard or it’s packed away to take it somewhere. There’s no reason to carry it around for normal use and the iPad case that stays attached is quite thin and light. After 3 months of using the ESR Magnetic Keyboard Case for my iPad, and overall, it's a good alternative to the Magic Keyboard, serving its intended purpose well. The compact design took some getting used to, but the light key feature, although not a daily necessity for me, comes in handy when needed. Battery life has been decent for my daily usage, averaging 6 hours a day, and I've only had to charge it twice in the past 3 months. Quick charging and efficient power management are definite pluses. Connectivity is generally good, though there are occasional lags, especially with the space bar at times. I believe this is a general issue for non-Apple network Bluetooth keyboards, you’ll always encounter a little lag. The magnetic case is a great addition, making it easy to attach and remove the iPad. The adjustable height feature is convenient for getting the screen closer to eye level, but be mindful of weight balancing, especially when moving the screen up. It works best on a flat surface, and if using on your lap, a pillow or lap desk helps maintain stability. The standout issue, however, is with the white version. While it looks sleek, keeping it clean is a challenge. As I purchased this as a portable workstation while I’m traveling, messes are expected to happen when moving from location to location; but I did not expect that it would be this difficult to clean. The outer layer of the case can be wiped down, but stubborn marks may leave a stain. Cleaning the keyboard itself is a disappointment, especially in the areas where hands rest, as the material is not easy to clean. Stains on the edges of the keyboard base are unavoidable and permanent, I’ve tried wipes and a magic eraser which usually fixes all mess but no luck. I highly recommend opting for the black version to avoid these unsightly issues. I hope ESR will consider these pain points for any future updates for the white version of this keyboard. Another thing to note, the case's weight adds to the overall iPad setup, which might be a concern for some users.
