I bought this after one of the cheapo $15 collars was just completely ignored by my rottie pup. It for sure gets her attention and works great. The light on the collar is a nice addition for night time potty breaks. My only constructive criticism here is the remote could use some improvement in design. It's very large, won't fit in alot of pockets. But that's not actually a complaint, just an observation. The complaint I have spurs from the button and lock key layout. The lock is a sliding switch, that takes a fair amount of pressure to slide. Not the end of the world, but it's located directly under the shock button. On more than one occasion I have unfairly shocked my pup on accident just trying to slide the lock key. A simple solution would be to swap the shock and beep button locations with each other. I ordered this collar at the end of June. I was impressed by the super long battery life on both the transmitter and the collar/receiver. The charge lasts 30 days plus which makes it really easy to use because unlike other collars which automatically shut off after 6 hours, you don't have to remember to turn it on before you let the dog out. The range is also impressive and far beyond what I expected, based on the false claims made by most other collar brands. While I haven't tested to see if it actually reaches 4,000 feet, I have used it successfully at around 3,000 feet when my dog escaped from the back yard chasing a deer. Love that the intensity/volume of the vibration and tone are adjustable. Have never had to use the shock function as the tone and vibration immediately get the do's attention and she come running back to me. The company claims a hassle-fee LIFETIME warranty. And guess what--THEY HONOR IT!! The end of the collar broke off one day. See the picture. Not sure why or how it broke. I called Amazon and they could not send a replacement because it was beyond Amazon's return window. So I called Nikketta directly and they were exceptionally courteous in handling my situation. They sent out a free replacement collar within 7 days!! If you're looking for a training collar that actually works as advertised--and a company that stands behind its product, I highly recommend this collar from Nikketta. TWO MONTHS OF USE… UPDATED REVIEW: This collar has been fantastic, I have the dog I wanted - she gets to run free be a dog. She has encountered DEER, RABBITS, DOGS w/Humans walking deer trails. She will sit down and wait for me to tell her what to do - before she would go into predator mode. I think she’s had MAYBE 12 shocks, all in the first few days and 2 were mistakes on my part. She used to be a runner, she would take off if loose. On the leash she used to pull hard the entire walk no matter what collar/harness I used - until we got this collar. She LOVES the collar and runs to be when I pick up the collar. She gets to be loose with the German Shepherds now, because is listens to commands and knows what she can/can’t do. I RECOMMEND THIS COLLAR TO EVERY DOG WALKER I KNOW!!! There was an issue that I contacted the manufacturer about and they were very responsive and helpful! BREAKING MY WRIST because she pulled me down was the reason I bought this collar and the change in this dog since I got her the collar has been AMAZING. She is a totally different dog, VERY HAPPY and she gets to do things she never could before! I own two German shepherds, and one pitbull cattle dog mix. The pitbull cattle dog mix is a wonderful dog inside the house, and does everything as she should. However, in the last year she started to become very leash aggressive. I've tried three trainers, a prong collar, which she was wearing when she pulled me down on Saturday as shown in the photo. We have tried choke chains, Martindale, gentle leader, harnesses, and everything else I could think of. After breaking my wrist from her pulling me to the ground I decided it was time. I needed to do something else or get rid of her. I ordered this collar for her and it arrived one week ago. I tested the collar and picked a low shock range. I spent the morning we got it with a collar on her neck in the yard fenced. I let her run and then I would send her an audible tone and call her and she would come right away. She learned this very fast. We went out on our walk. Once I felt confident, she understood the color and I knew what I was doing with it. As we approach to our first dog walker, she got down in her attack position, and we kept walking, and I kept telling her to leave it. As we got closer, she decided it was time to strike. I shouted the command off and hit the shock. Much to my surprise this dog that's impervious to even the prong collar, screamed and stopped immediately. From that point on we've had 11 dog encounters over the last seven days the first two days I just used an audible tone after the initial shock that one time. Since then I haven't had to use an audible tone, the vibration which I've never used or the shock. She learned very quickly from the collar. She is now a pleasure to walk again I don't like having to shock the dog, but sometimes you need to scatter their thought process. It's over in a second and so is the behavior. I could see if this is abused, it could really harm the dog. But if you were thoughtful with your training and love your dog, that should work just fine. I don't use it for recall or any other commands. Our only use for this collar is to stop aggression. And I only do it the moment she shows aggression. No other time. She wears the collar all day long just so she doesn't always associate it with shock. I found the quality of this collar to be decent. Very good for the money. I wish the locking switch was a little clearer. My biggest fear is accidentally shocking the dog who is behaving good. So I regularly double check that I've got it locked properly. I've spent a lot of money on trainers and other collars that didn't give me any usable results. I've had dogs for 50 years and never had a dog that's problematic. And in the matter of a day or two, this collar brought her in line with nothing else could. I highly recommend this product. Very well made and the fact that it had several settings for each training function was a plus. Strong, loud and bright. Collar has a light which comes in handy walking pet off leash in the dark. Wish transmitter had a clip or some kind of tether. Could be small. It's larger than my phone. Collar is waterproof but unfortunately the transmitter is not. Screen is bright and easy to read. This collar works great and the battery life is equally impressive. I had ordered this after a referral from a friend and I have not been disappointed. The quality is great and the fact it is waterproof is a huge plus. I had ordered one for my puppy and needed another one for my bigger dog as he was acting out. I contacted the company and they sent me an additional collar immediately and it arrived a few days later no questions asked. Pairing the additional collar was a breeze and being able to control 2 collars with one remote is also a big plus. The range and customizable options as far as tone volume and sound are impeccable. I have an extremely stubborn, powerful Chesapeake Bay Retriever. The only way to get his energy out is off-leash walks through woods and across fields. A problem started early on with these walks when he would start eating things that he shouldn't, and which sometimes caused him to become sick. Because he would be several feet away from me when this happened, I was unable to stop him in time. Enter the shock collar. Being able to prompt from distance, he quickly learned that even if I was not right by him, he had to respond, or else. My dog also has a tendency to act aggressive towards other dogs when on leash and when he doesn't get to "say hi". He feels the tension in the leash and thinks he has to go into guard mode. Off-leash he's fine and if the other dog is allowed to say hi he's fine. But not every dog is permitted to say hi, and this was causing problems because he is powerful. I can manage him, but other members in my family couldn't. Shock collar to the rescue again. If we saw a dog coming and the leash got tight, we had the remote at the ready to prompt him if his behavior was unacceptable. The great thing is that he's learned to the point that if the collar is simply around his neck, he knows how to behave. The shock is barely used at all. The ping and vibration are enough to prompt him. Some might say a shock collar is a cruel method of training, but it has made taking my dog outside into public and on walks a joy, when before I dreaded it. And as I said, the shock mode is barely used at all. I've been using this product for 18 months and it performs so well. We do not leave home without it. Battery life is excellent. If the remote or collar are a bit low on juice, I can charge them via the USB cord in the car on the way to wherever we're going. The range is also impressive. My dog will sometimes disappear into the woods chasing deer and I will lose sight of him. If he doesn't return after a while, I can ping the collar to determine where he is. And this has actually become a useful signal for him to return to my side. He also likes to swim and does so almost daily. The collar is fully waterproof and has remained operational for months, despite being fully submerged almost daily. He is not bothered by the collar when wearing it, and he happily naps with it on. The remote is sturdy and durable, and fits well into your hand and pocket. The lock is very helpful to prevent accidental prompts, but it's also readily accessible if you need to quickly unlock it. Operation is straightforward and intuitive. What has really impressed me with this product, though, is the customer service. A few months ago I had to order a replacement because I stood on the remote and completely crushed the antenna, drastically reducing the range and reliability of communication to the collar. Completely my fault and I was happy to purchase a replacement. After 3 months, the replacement remote suddenly and completely went dead. After some testing, I discovered that the remote was fine, but the rechargeable LiPo battery had lost its charge. I reached out to customer service on a whim to explain the problem. Without hesitating, they offered some suggestions on how to troubleshoot, but asked for my mailing address at the same time and offered a free replacement remote, which I received less than a week from my initial request.
