A while ago I bought an inexpensive screen backlight. It amounted to a generic strand of LED strip lighting that came with a cheaply-made remote control. All it really was was strip lighting, like what my teenage daughter put up in her bedroom. Well, there was one exception. The set I bought for my TV failed within a year. When this lighting set popped up as an almost-expired Lightning Deal, I bought it right away, only because of the good experiences I've had with other Govee products. When it arrived, I was amazed at its quality and capabilities. Unlike the previous strip of lights, the Govee lights were sealed. Also, instead of a single run of lights, which required some awkward bends at each corner, these lights consisted of four strips with built-in wires for corners, making the installation easier and more professional looking. The list of features is astounding. There are enough lights to make the result as bright as I need it, and everything is adjustable through their smartphone app. Thanks to the included camera, actually, there are three cameras built into the single sensor; I can have the lights around the TV change with the picture with no discernable delay. I also have the option to have the lights display a single color that matches the average color of the entire picture at that moment, and I prefer this: the color differs around the screen, depending on what is being displayed on that particular edge at any given moment. For example, if the TV is displaying a blue sky on top, a green field on the bottom right, and a house on the left, then the lighting will show blue on top, green on the right, and house-color on the left, And the match is not just the primary color, but the shade that matches the screen. The result is a picture that is easier to watch in a dark room because there is a smoother transition from the TV display to the darkness surrounding it. Installation took about an hour. It could have gone more quickly, but I was taking my time. However, I did learn one thing that would have made things go more quickly for me and might help you out as well. One installation step is to temporarily apply some large orange blocks to the edge of your TV screen and use the app to define the edges for the cameras by moving little dots to the edges of what the camera sees. What worked better for me was to have a brightly lit picture on my TV and move the dots to the edges without bothering with the blocks. Time will tell if these lights last longer than the previous set. However, based on what I've seen between the two sets and my experience with other Govee products, I expect they will, and by a good amount. And, until then, I have a much better set of lights and a more impressive TV. Read more

Easy to install following the instructions. Recommend watching a couple of videos on YouTube to pick up little tips around installation and calibration to make things easier and improve the experience. As an example, I discovered before I installed mine if the lights are installed on the very outer edges of the back of the TV you might be able to see the actual LEDs when you are sitting to the far left or right of the TV while watching a show. I mounted mine roughly 10mm in from the edges, but the back of my TV is completely flat from edge to edge. If your TV has beveled/angled outer edges you might need to experiment before sticking them down. The instructions also direct you to calibrate the system for your individual TV which I highly recommend. Out of the box the lights are set to "vivid" which was initially spectacular, but I discovered it was a bit too intense for movies. although probably perfect for gaming. Using the Govee app on a tablet I changed the setting to "smooth" with a bit of additional calibration which has improved the experience for us. So, what's it like. Fantastic. With the addition of a new Atmos sound system I bought recently I was watching a show where the onscreen characters were inside a creepy old house while a storm was raging outside. Between the rumbling of the sound system and the Govee lights flashing in sync with the lightning on the screen I felt like I was in an actual storm. Overall, the LEDs are very responsive to the action on the screen with some very minor delays which are not noticeable unless you are looking for them. Afterall the lights are meant to be in your peripherals given you are watching the screen, not the wall. If you like to be immersed in your movies and not just watching them this is definitely a good addition to your home theatre. Read more

We really like these lights and use them when we have movie nights. The installation and configuration was easy but just a note that if the room is not dark the colors will be wrong. If you have lights right above your tv it seems to create a red hue right under the tv. The room needs to be dark for these to work beautifully (i.e. you won’t get much out of them during daylight). The set up was straightforward but took some time to calibrate the camera. There's a sweet spot. If you boost the lighting and saturation to the highest it actually looks bad. Test until you're happy. Great ambient lighting and makes the screen feel bigger. Read more

Es una excelente opción para los que quieren tener una tira de pantalla, hay mas caras y “mejores” pero el precio de au competencia me parece absurdo. Esta tira alumbra muy bien, trae app intuitiva y muy bien hecha, puedes calibrar colores, saturación, intensidad de brillo; puedes incluso prender secciones diferentes y crear tus propias escenas . Trae temporizador para prender y apagar la tira sin necesidad de encender la Pantalla. Los colores son INFINITOS. Al ser RGBIC tienes millones mas de Opciones de colores que con tiras rgb normales. Govee me ha sorprendido muchísimo con sus productos de alta calidad a precios razonables. Hay mas baratos? Si. Pero igual de buenos? No, no son tan buenos como esta tira de led para pantalla. This is the 2nd set of TV backlights I’ve gotten from Govee. For the price and quality, they’re better than the hue. Easy to set up, and truely immersive TV viewing experience during movie nights. Calibration can be a bit tricky but I found it helpful to follow YouTube videos to calibrate to the correct light settings. This is a very nice and a quality product by Govee. First, I bought the previous version (T1), but after watching several review videos I quickly discovered that there is an upgraded version (T2) that just came out (late fall 22), so I went for it. After all, it’s supposed to have a better dual camera and 40% better lights. When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised because you could see right away that the product has been significantly improved. From the camera, to the strip lights, everything felt premium. Since I bought the T1, I knew that I had to buy an additional power cord extension (DC12) for under 14$ to be able to hide the main power supply wire behind the wall, otherwise depending on your set up the wire could be short, or not. Everything is installed, it took no longer than 30 mins, no wires showing on my mounted 60inch TV, the lights are calibrated and look absolutely fantastic. I played the 'Life In Color With David Attenborough' on Netflix to test it out and demonstrate it to my wife and we were both happy with how the lights were adjusting to the colourful images. You have two options for that function, gaming and movie. Look up review videos with most views and see for yourself how awesome this is. One thing for sure though, no video or a picture can replace the reality, that is when you’re watching an immersive spectacle that takes your home theater set up to a whole other level. Enjoy folks.
