This skirt worked out for me! It’s thin material, so it’s kind good for renaissance faire heat. I wore leggings underneath and would recommend tights or your own preference. A little tight around the waist, but it stays on and mine didn’t roll around anywhere - these hips do not lie. All the other things on me came from Amazon. Every other Scarlet Darkness item I have has been really great and I was excited to see this style available. I was disappointed that it felt like a polyester knit, medium heavy weight, and not at all as flowy as other skirts I have purchased. The waistband was iffy and it didn't seem like the 'belting' would cinch it in at all. Without elastic on the back, it hung awkwardly and looked unattractive. The "exchanged" 2XL that came (blue skirt with points), also has a zipper that wasn't installed correctly!!! It will not go all the way down. This one is also mis- sized - I think it is a Large, not 2 XL. I already had a 2 XL so I know it should fit. This is about a women's size 10 or 11. It is about 6" smaller in waist than the last 2XL. ---- I bought an XL and 2XL. POSITIVES: 1st- LOVE the style! Nice workmanship. Black is a rich black. 2nd - Clips were sewn on correctly. Some other review mentioned their's were backward. Mine arrived fine. COMMENT: Might be tempted to just buy a similar pattern and sew my own to get a better fit. I could pick a fabric with more "structure" and period-weight. This is very light weight polyester- feels soft and silky. NEGATIVES: 1st - The buttons are just decorative. Not functional. Has a back zipper. 2nd - waist on XL was identical to 2XL - and both smaller than 2XL Sizing - about 34" waist with zero stretch. 3rd - Clips didn't have instructions so at first it seemed they didn't work. Rather than pulling apart, the top part lifts up ( think of top part of clip having two sections, top and bottom, and then the bottom-bottom of clip. Once I figured out that, clips were fine. 4th - the "pleather" ( fake leather): Looks like plastic. Comment Not a fan of fabric- personal preference. I think it needs a slip to avoid being clingy in not a good way. It's more like they used blouse fabric for skirt - very flow-y. --- Bottom line: returning both- I normally wear a size 14, sometimes / rarely need a 16. This 2XL didn't fit. Waist sizing too far off. I don't feel like messing with alterations when I could remake a similar skirt, in fabric I like, with better looking fake leather, and create it with working buttons and a stretch back. Read more
