I used to own a Razer keyboard years ago, but nothing like the Ornata Chroma Gaming Keyboard. It was a chiclet style (Razer Deathstalker, Green RGB backlighting) and it was my first "true" gaming keyboard. Needless to say, the chiclet style keys and 1-colour RGB aren't for everybody. Over time, the keys became unresponsive, weren't easy to clean, and the look was really troublesome with my rig as I couldn't customize or change anything - everything had to revolve around that green colour, which, by the way, was dull in comparison to today's offerings. I can honestly say that after moving to Logitech for a period of a good couple years, I can confidently say that Razer has me back again. The RGB is stellar. It is beautiful to look at, bright, and customizable using the Chroma software (Razer Synapse). My favourite pattern to use is the "Wave" pattern because it matches the RGB of my CPU cooler. I was skeptical, admittedly, at first, of the "mecha-membrane" key switches, as I'd always loved the feel of mechanical, but the simplicity of membrane (as well as softness for key-travel and comfort for long-sessions of typing or gaming), but never found it justifiable to spend more than 50$ odd on keyboard unless it was on sale for a decent price compared to retail. When I bought this Razer mouse to go alongside my new Razer Basilisk v2 (wired) mouse, I instantly knew from the first Skype message I typed out that I was happy with my decision. The sound of the keys clicking is quieter than traditional mechanical keys, but the keys have the same feel as a truly mechanical switch. My only gripe is the travel, which is about the same as a traditional mechanical. Having come from a Logitech Prodigy G213, the travel on the keys in general is wonderfully in line and more comfortable to type on. I actually find that I type faster with these these keys than I did with even that keyboard (average WPM ~120). The only key that bothers me a bit is the Space key, as for the way that I type, I feel like it sticks a bit before going down (as though I'm not hitting it straight on, so it catches, if that makes sense?). But its not that crazy noticeable unless I'm typing at full capacity, which these days, isn't as often as I am speaking so its not really a bother (could just be my positioning on the keyboard). Synching the RGB with the Razer suite (Razer Synapse) was instantaneous. As soon as I plugged in the device, it was connected and synched. Within moments I had the RGB configured and was typing away. Couldn't be easier to setup, and couldn't look more amazing in synch with my mouse, and Goliathus mousemat. From my experience thus far in gaming, and typing, I can't say that I have really any complaints besides my minor gripe with the space bar "catching", but I expect that is just a matter of getting used to having to apply more force than usual with my thumb when typing. I don't dock too many points for that ;) If you love the feel of mechanical keys, like I do (and the sound!) but want to be comfortable during gaming/typing sessions, I'd definitely suggest giving the Ornata Chroma Gaming Keyboard a try. If your buying this its an investment into something you want and you will enjoy. I personally love the keyboard and has made my work that much easier. The Razor Ornata is pretty great. It's tactile, and an all around great gaming keyboard. Some of our favorite things about it is the expanded functionality of the keys, you can even set macros, and play games in the dark if you want due to the LED lighting. We've not had any issues with sticking or broken keys, but it can be a bit of a pain to clean. Make sure you get the Razer Chroma program if you want to set it up to glow a certain color. The keyboard also has a nice profile, and you can prop it up on two back legs of the keyboard if you feel more comfortable with your hands positioned that way. That's typically how we have it set up when we play games. It seems to reduce a lot of the wrist strain that I was getting before when playing faster paced action games, which is nice! Make sure you clean it out regularly though and don't spill things on it of course. Read more

I purchased this to replace my previous Redragon gaming keyboard. And I had very high hopes... But in the end I have mixed feelings. First of all the keyboard doesn't feel cheap. It feels good high quality! It also has robust set of key functionalities. However, the buttons are definitely not low profile. They are in fact so high profile it is a joke to put this in the product description. Second, it is not a silent or even a semi-silent keyboard. The product description states silent membrane switches... which confused me to think the keyboard itself is a silent or semi-silent, but alas it is just a regular noisy tap tap tap keyboard. And last but not least - when you plug in the keyboard it starts flashing various colors like a Christmas tree :-} Now that's cute and all... if it wasn't for the fact that you cannot fully control this from the keyboard directly but I need to download a 0.5 GB app just to freaking stop my keyboard from changing colors every few seconds. Seriously! A half gigabyte app for this keyboard... Razer, please... On top of that the razer installer was trying to push me a bunch of bloatware, but at least those can be unticked. Read more

This is an excellent keyboard in every respect. I purchased it after spilling coffee into my old Logitech G510 with the result a couple of keys no longer worked. The G510 is also an excellent keyboard but no longer available so thought maybe time to try something from a different manufacturer. Keyboards are inexpensive but this one comes in a bit above average in cost. Of course, you can pay hundreds for models with brass frames, jeweled lighting and gold plated keys but who really needs all of that? This Razer delivers the goods and then some at a price that makes sense. The tactile response of the hybrid mechanical/membrane key mechanism is outstanding and the customizable backlighting is the same. The keys have a comfortable micro-texturing rather than being the slick-and-slippery kind. There's comprehensive macro editing, sound volume control and many more features. Really, the sky's the limit. A few things to note... When plugging in the first time the keyboard immediately, and without your say-so, downloads and installs the utility software. This could take around 5 minutes and you'll just have to wait. You'll then have to re-boot. The utilities launch automatically and can also be found in the pop-up on the right side of your "quick launch" bar. By default, the keyboard starts up first time with a psychedelic varying background color. If you find this distracting (as do I), simply use the utility to choose a color and brightness you like and make the configuration "static". It will stay that way unless you change it. Finally, there's a deluxe padded wrist rest that attaches magnetically. I can think of no cons. This unit is a class act. Read more

This is one of the best membrane keyboards. The keys are very light and sound decent. They are so light that sometimes you can make spelling mistakes. But overall they are a joy to type on. Lights - Bright enough but they are single zone lights with no individual key lighting. You have to use the Razor software to control the lights. When the computer switches on, they revert to default light setting which is rainbow lights. Once windows boots, they will go back to your chosen color. I could see no difference on gaming with this keyboard or a 20 dhs keyboard. Except that the buttons are really good to type on. Read more

Typing experience is quiet and comfortable, you may adjust the light intensity and color (only a solid color can be applied, it`s not possible to set a gradient tho).
