I didn't known what shedding meant until we welcomed a Great Pyrenees to our family. Since then I've been trying different grooming tools. I always avoided slicker brushes because they looked painful. Until I got a grooming vaccum and noticed the slicker attachment worked well, despite the pins being too short to reach his undercoat. I decided to try one with long pins. In only a couple minutes it took a lot of hair, and seemed to help with the slight matting of his undercoat. And no mess. When I use a rake on him I end up with hair everywhere, but not with this kind, all the Pyr glitter stayed on the slicker brush. My dog actually seemed to enjoy it and the cats certainly did and would not let me stop brushing them. I can't compare with others, but this was comfortable on my hands and effective with hair removal. Read more
