I had been happily using this prenatal for 6 months prior, but after ordering a couple of bottles to stock up recently (January 2025), I opened one and got the most RANK smell of my life. It's so foul, I am smelling it everywhere. I haven't had nausea my entire pregnancy, so I know that this is a formulation change, manufacturing issue, or storage/delivery issue through Amazon. When I went to the Needed website, I see that now they only offer the prenatal capsules with added flavors (vanilla or citrus) so clearly the company has moved on from selling this product w/o a flavor, but Amazon just continues to sell it flavor-free. After some back and forth with the seller I was able to get a refund and they are looking into the issue. Read more

This product was a little smaller than i had expected especially with serving size of 3 a day. It did have a little weird odor upon opening it, and that was a little gross. However it didn’t taste horrible or give me any pain. Might just be the capsules/rice hulls. overall, i heard great reviews on this for postnatal and excited to try it. shipping did take almost 2 weeks but glad to have it regardless. Read more

Love this product! It has real folate not synthetic folic acid. I gave this prenatal 3 stars because the pills smell absolutely AWFUL. They can be hard to take if you’re in first trimester and sensitive to smells/taste. When I open the container I have to plug my nose and take them quick or I’m hovering over the porcelain throne. I really wanted to love these. I still think they are probably one of the most researched and highest quality products on the market but it is not working for me. 1. It’s super expensive when you consider you have to buy additional supplements to meet basic needs like iron and omega 3s. 2. The smell and taste is so terrible that I can barely open the jar without gagging, let alone swallow the pills. I have to take an immediate flavor chaser to subdue the off gas that sits in my mouth after swallowing. I wish I could get over it, in fact I’ve been trying for 3 months, but today I hit my tolerance limit as they left me dry heaving in the kitchen as my toddler screamed and crawled all over me. 3. I was taking ritual before and switched for the higher doses in key nutrients, but I do not feel the energy lift I had with ritual, so I’m switching back. 4. I usually have a cast iron stomach but if I dare to forget to eat before taking these I get nausea within minutes. Perhaps it’s the strength of the vitamin, but I’m tired of all the consequences of taking these pills.
