I am absolutely thrilled with my Donner Electric Guitar, model DST-152! As a beginner guitar player, I couldn't have asked for a better instrument to kick-start my musical journey. The smooth fret board and comfortable neck make it easy for me to navigate through chords and scales, enhancing my learning experience. It's truly a fantastic guitar that has quickly become an integral part of my musical expression. In addition to the guitar itself, I also invested in a collection of 13 Donner pedals to create a dynamic pedal board setup for my gigs. This combination has taken my performances to the next level, allowing me to explore an array of captivating sounds and effects. Each Donner pedal enhances the character of my playing, from the subtle nuances to the bold crescendos. I'm able to effortlessly switch between different tones, giving my performances a professional edge that leaves a lasting impression on the audience. With the Donner Electric Guitar and my diverse pedal board, I'm not only equipped for success as a beginner, but I'm also confidently stepping into the world of live music with a setup that's as unique and innovative as my musical aspirations. The only CON is the machine heads or tuner clicks when I am tuning my strings. The strings stay in tune but the machine heads appear to have an internal issue which I cannot fix. Suggested upgrades: *Upgraded Tuning Machines: Consider brands like Schaller, Hipshot, or Grover for high-quality locking tuners. *Pickup Upgrades: Brands like Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, and EMG offer a wide range of pickups to suit different playing styles. *Custom Pickguard and Hardware: Brands like Pickguardian, WD Custom Pickguards, and Warmoth offer custom pickguard options. For hardware, options from Allparts, Gotoh, and Fender can be considered. *Nut Replacement: TUSQ and Graphtech are reputable brands for replacement nuts. *Effects Loop and Pedalboard Expansion: Brands like Boss, TC Electronic, Donner and Strymon provide high-quality effects pedals for an expanded pedalboard setup. First of all, you HAVE to set it up. If you don't know how to have someone do it for you. The truss rod comes with no tension on it so you have to crank it quite a bit to get the proper neck relief. The saddles are very easy to adjust to get the proper action. I have it setup in E-flat with the strings it came with (looks like 10-46) and it feels really good. The fretwork is nearly perfect and the frets are nice and rounded. The neck is very comfortable and easy to play. The bridge pickup sounds REALLY GOOD, very similar to a dimarzio super distortion. The on-board headphone amp is a nice feature but I really don't see a purpose for it as I don't see a point in listening to raw unprocessed guitar signal, maybe in the future if there was a way to add a preamp and effects it would make this guitar a hundred times better. The strap mounting points are in a weird spot so I don't really use it standing up. Also I wish it had 24 frets and a deeper cutaway but that's just my preference. Overall it's almost a perfect travel guitar. Hopefully the next version will have some slight modifications made because the craftsmanship is impeccable and the materials are very high quality at this price point. Read more

I'm a seasoned guitar player with 30 years experience and I picked up this guitar to have another backup practice guitar at home. I wasn't expecting much but I'm truly amazed with the overall quality. The guitar did need a mild setup and I had to dress the frets, but other than that, everything was perfect. It's fairly lightweight and the overall fit and finish is really good. Plus, it comes with a few handy accessories including a gig bag and small amp. I have no reservations recommending this guitar for beginners. For more advance players, it will need a little fretwork, setup and mods - ie pickups, electronics, tuners and tremolo. Read more
