Bought it to clean up after un-toilet trained new dog weed on freshly shampooed carpet. Did an amazing job. Needed to rinse the carpet twice because the dirty water tank was still dirty. It obviously did a better job than the commercial cleaner to find that much dirt after only a week! It comes with a 3 year warranty which is pretty good these days. Read more

We are extremely pleased with the new Hoover PowerScrub XL Pet carpet cleaner. We initially purchased a similar model named the same way at Wal-Mart. However, the Wal-Mart model (ending in 01) was not the same model as this one (ending in 02). They look identical with similar features, but they were not. The Wal-Mart model does not have a separate solution bottle, the extra attachment for the hose or the bag for the hose and tools. The Wal-Mart model was about $40 cheaper, but not worth the difference for the features and additional attachments and storage bag. I did notice this until I put it together and was a deal breaker. I ordered it online and returned the unit to the store for full credit the next day without any hassle from Wal-Mart. We have an older rug in one our bedrooms that was very soiled from years of use and had a lot of stains. We thought we would have to replace the rug. Since this was a good quality rug, we decided to buy this rug cleaner to see if we could clean it. We just used it and it worked GREAT. After several passes, it took out most of the stains and now the rug is acceptable. We will go back and use the scrub rush tomorrow to get the stubborn stains out. After looking at numerous reviews, we chose the Hoover PowerScrub for the features it had as follows: 1) Separate Solution Bottle 2) Removeable rotating scrub brush for cleaning or can be replaced 3) Large water tanks for clean and dirty water (no leaks like many have complained about) 4) Does not use as much water as Bissel units 5) Wider than most other models 6) Light weight & easy push and pull 7) Nice accessories with hose and scrub brushes & storage bag 8) Powerful 10 amp motor (other cleaners have 6-7 amp motors) 9) Separate trigger to release solution (Hoover PowerWash is automatic and you cannot control release of solution) 10) Reasonable price & great reviews We couldn't be happier with the choice we made and hope this Hoover Carpet Cleaner will hold up for years of use. I bought this as my new puppy isn’t 100% house trained yet. I pre treat the spots with pet urine / enzyme spot cleaner then do a couple of passes with the machine and it gets it right out. Sometimes it seems like the solution in the machine keeps going onto the carpet, even when I’m not squeezing the handle to dispense it. So I remove the container with the solution when I go over the carpet to suction up the moisture. The stair attachment works well and has a decent size hose. The machine is easy to clean. Hoover includes tools for that plus a bag with a hook to store the hose attachment and tools. Read more

We had a professional carpet cleaner do the entire house back in April with fair/good results. The problem is we have a very light-colored (almost white) beige carpet with high traffic area blackish track marks in and out of the den and master bedroom. I tried carpet sprays, I tried powdered carpet cleaners, etc. to no avail, which was why we called the carpet cleaner back in April. So he got most of the high traffic area marks to look maybe 80-90% better, but he did not clean the area against the front of the couch bc he couldn't get the edge of his machine close enough to the couch. He should have just moved the darn couch a foot back like I did a few days ago so he could get to all the carpet. In any event after only three months, we started to see the same dirty high traffic areas reappearing even though we never wear shoes in the house and the carpets in our den and master bedroom looked like they needed a light cleaning again because it was not really 100% when the carpet cleaner finished. He said it was an old carpet and hey what can you do? Rather than have the carpet cleaner come back out for an afternoon with the need to start moving furniture, tables, plants etc. again, I figured why not give this machine a try? It was worth it because this Hoover has done a good job overall, I did need to go over the carpet in the den 2-3 times to get rid of the blackish high traffic areas and did the area in front of the couch three times because the professional carpet cleaner didn't bother to clean there. I asked a family member to look at the entire den when I was done and they said 100% better. It actually looks BETTER than when the professional carpet cleaner cleaned it! This is a 20-year old carpet in a heavily used area and it actually looks really good now. As noted, I had to do the den twice and the black high traffic marks three times, but so what? The bottom line is the carpet looks great now. Overall, I am really impressed with this machine. Everything works the way it says and it is a snap to use. PLUS the suction is so good the carpets are barely damp when done and are dry (at least in our low humidity climate in the desert) within a few hours, even though I used a few full tanks of solution in one room (den). With the clear brush cover you can see all the dirty cleaning solution being sucked back into the dirty water tank as you go over the carpet. I do note that I have to go pretty slow back and forth on both the cleaning and suction strokes in order to let the machine roller clean the carpet and then to allow it to suction out as much liquid as possible, but no big deal, the results are worth it. I had a little difficulty getting the HOSE attachment plugged in to the machine to do upholstery, but I used a touch of silicone spray on a rag where the water nozzle plugs into the machine and that fixed it. I've seen a few complaints that the cleaning solution bottle needs refilled often or the dirty water tank needs emptying often. Yes, you will need to refill the cleaning solution container a few times if you go slow enough to actually allow the machine to clean the carpet in a large area, and the dirty water tank fills up fast (it also has an audible change in tone to let you know you need to empty it), but no big deal. I keep a 5-gallon plastic bucket in the room I'm cleaning and empty the dirty water in there and just take the one big bucket out to empty it when I 'm done. I would advise maybe NOT emptying the dirty water container into a sink or toilet because there may be lint, dirt, etc. in there which may clog drain pipes? Bottom line - very impressive results for a great price, and the entire unit and attachments seem to be high quality. It is also REALLY easy to rinse the roller areas and dirty water tank when done. THE ONLY GRIPE I HAVE IS I DID NOT GET ANY 'SAMPLE" CLEANING SOLUTION WITH THE UNIT DESPITE THE BOX AND INSTUCTIONS SAYING IT COMES IN THE BOX. HAD I NOT ORDERED A CONTAINER OF THE HOOVER OXY SOLUTION WHICH WAS DELEIVERED SAME TIME AS THE MACHINE I WOULD HAVE HAD NO CLEANING SOLUTION AT ALL. Overall, I am really satisfied with this carpet cleaner and I wish I would have bought one years ago. Read more

The first thing that impressed me was I was able to do an entire room and hallway and there was still some water left in the gallon tank and it did not dispense all of the cleaning solution unlike the bissells I owned where they went through tons of cleaning solution. This machine does a very good job of mixing and dispensing just enough solution to properly clean without over soaking the carpet. After shampooing my carpet, I left to run some errands and when I returned home 4 hours later the carpet was already almost completely dry to the touch. The machine is very easy to clean and the action of the brushes and the suction power did an amazing job cleaning my carpet. I have used this machine only once so far so we will see how it goes after using it a couple times. I say this because in the Last 5 Years I purchased three different models of Bissell shampooers and they all failed after the third use. One of the units the suction really degraded on one of the others the handheld wand stopped spraying solution and was very sporadic. I will never ever buy a Bissell shampooer ever again! My third Bissell failed when attempting to clean up a spot after my dog threw up and of course the main floor unit would not dispense water or cleaner. I saw this Hoover on Amazon and read the reviews so I thought I would give it a try. So far, after one use I am very pleased with its performance I know this is a different brand however, I have been burned so badly by Bissell units where they failed after the third use that it has made me a little gun shy when it comes to carpet shampooers. I checked it by re-assembling it but it didnt work whereas the hand scrub brush accessory of the machine was working and the brushes were spinning perfectly. Had to return it. Also very noisy. it took some time to assemble and i made sure to read all of the instructions...but using it is pretty intuitive and my carpets are sooooo much cleaner. you dont even need to buy all those fancy carpet cleaners. just fill the top tank with hot water a splash a little laundry detergent that you already have on hand in with it. plug in the cleaner. push the button as you spray the water into the carpet and then stop pushing the button to suck the now dirty water back up into the bottom tank. after youre finished, just open the bottom tank, and pour the dirty water down the drain and rinse it off lightly. so easy. it makes so much sense to have your own cleaner and wash your carpets whenever you need than to pay a company.
