Reviewed Jan 2024: We've 3 of these.. A 4 gang version in the shed, and a couple of the 6 gang versions that are in the house. The shed one is connected to a motion detector and internal and external cameras, the idea being that if there are connection problems with those devices, I can reboot them from the power strip. To be fair, I've not yet had to do this, but I'm a little paranoid about stuff getting pinched. In the house, one is on my desk, so PC, monitors, powered USB hub and the other one is in the bedroom, powering AppleTV, TV, soundbar, etc. I bought both of these because they were on sale around black Friday and they replaced cheap power strips that did not have individual switches per gang (yet along the ability to control them remotely). As I'm typing this review, I'm asking myself if I really need these to be connected and remotely controlled.... Perhaps I will want to shut them down at the power source if I'm away for a long period of timne, maybe I'll be saving a tiny amount of standby power if I was to power them down from a day to day perspective, but so far, I've not been motivated to do this. Away from the use, what I can say... Setting them up and getting them connected was really easy.. Note I'm using Apple homekit, and for me, the QR scanning code rarely works during setup, this might be as a result of my antique iPhone. But setting them up in the Meross app was relatively straight forward. TIP: Keep the box so you know exactly what item you are setting up in the Meross app, as there are several model numbers to choose from. Read more

Summerhouse has a garden light fitted . Wanted it to turn on and off and voice commands. Plug this between . Never dropped wifi yet. Turns on on sun down. And timed off 12:30 . Two sockets and each is individually programmed. Install software. Log into network. Add new devices on alexa . And that's it. Well I thought it's never going to hit range for wifi but faultless every day on and off giving security and reliability best value socket I've bought. Read more

The Meross outdoor smart plug is an ideal way to add smart switches to control outdoor electrical devices like garden lights. On the box it says IP64 waterproof which means it’s “protected from water spray from any direction”. Not only does it support Amazon Alexa and Google Voice Assistant it also supports Apple HomeKit and no additional hub is required. Set up was very easy. Simply open the Home app on your iPhone scan the QR code on the back of the switch and within a minute it was ready to use. I named mine Meross Outdoor and can say “Hey Siri turn on all Meross Outdoor” and both switches come on or to control single switch “Hey Siri turn on Meross Outdoor Outlet 2”. As it in Home app I can also control it from my Apple Watch. What I like about Apple Home is the simple way I can incorporate the switch into an automation to turn outdoor lights on at sunset. I would also recommend to download and install the Meross app as this can be used for firmware updates, adding was also simple as the Meross app picked up the smart outdoor plug was already on my network, this then let me check for to see if there was a firmware update. I also added the Meross Skill from the Alexa app signed into my Meross account to link it and Alexa control was also in place. So I now have Siri control or Alexa. The unit itself feels very solid and well made and when powered off and moved connected back to my network very quickly. The socket caps are spring loaded so simply close back up and stay tightly shut when not in use. The cable is quite short as stated but no problem as I already have an outdoor wall socket so this just plugged in and there are screw holes on the back so next job will be to wall mount it and connect up some garden lights. I had no issues with Wi-Fi signal when outside as the socket seems to have a very good range and is also very fast to respond turn on and off with no noticeable delay. Overall great item, simple to setup and compatible with all the main home automation systems, a great addition to any smart home. Read more

Awesome product, I actually have a few and will get more. But the only heads up is that the HomeKit barcode sticker fades away during normal wear and tear. Update to the update: I found the first one so useful I ordered a second, and tried setting it up without shutting off 5Ghz. This one worked perfectly without shutting down the 5Ghz bad, although it spent so much time “connecting” in the Meross app I was exploit to fail—so be patient. Now going to order a 3rd. Updated Review: After finding an obscure article on how to shut off the 5GHz band of my Velop mesh wi-Fi network I was able to successfully set this item up both directly via Apple Home Kit and via the Meross app. The Meross app way is better, as it adds it to both the Meross app to access firmware updates and the Apple Home app for easier day-to-day use. Upgraded my rating from one to four stars as I think it is actually a five star accessory but the setup requirement to shut down the 5GHz band is overly complicated and will make many users frustrated — and certainly users who aren’t able or comfortable making changes to their WiFi systems. Old Review: Product works with the Meross App, but won’t connect to Apple Home Kit despite hours of effort, innumerable resets, power offs,etc. Only connects on 2.4ghz network so unless you can shut off your 5ghz network somehow plan to face connection failure at setup. I have other Meross products that have setup on Home Kit fine, so maybe a firmware update will help, but this isn’t showing a firmware update available so today there isn’t much hope. Read more

Works well and the app is surprisingly not too bad. HomeKit integration also works although you need an Apple TV or HomePod for most of the HomeKit features (not Meross fault of course) but something to keep in mind for Apple users. Read more
