I started feeding this to my cats 1 month before I moved in with my now husband who has a mild cat allergy. He loves our kitties so much, but he couldn’t hold or pet them without getting itchy. That’s no longer a problem! I started by feeding each cat 1/4 of a cup daily through their auto feeders and cut back to 1/8 of a cup after a few months. It has high protein for a dry food, which is great, but use it as a supplement purely for the allergen reduction benefits. Their diet primarily consists of wet food so they stay properly hydrated. If this is the only thing you’re feeding your cats, please mix with water so they don’t get dehydrated. It took about a month to see any allergy benefits in our case, so don’t expect instant results. The results could vary depending on the cat and the severity of the person’s allergy. As far as the taste, my cats love it a little too much. I use individual morsels as treats too. My kitty named Keno is not even a year old but she has some allergies and it was worrying me and her cat dad every time she would try a new food she would sneeze and sneeze. I thought she might have a hairball issue as well. I did some research and found out that because she was a rescue kitty, we found her in a vacant area in the neighboring rural town, that she might have kitty respertiory illness. We took her for her first well kitty check up and turns out I was correct. She got her first shots and then went back for her spay appointment and I talked with the vet tech and the veterinary doctor who said to find a healthy food that she likes and stick to it. Well in comes Purina to the rescue! Not only did Keno love the food but she was now more playful and seemed to really be allowing herself to play outside with no crazy sneeze fits! Hurray!!! We found one good food and we are sticking to it. Not only did it help Keno with her allergies but I was a bit of a sneeze myself and thought I would be ok because she is an inside cat. I had only ever been around outside kitties in the past and figured that was the root cause but I got worried when my inside keno started to make me tear up and sneeze as well.
