Having been a lifelong wet shaver, I decided to take the plunge and get an electric shaver. Reviews are most useful, and there are several sites giving guides on shavers/razors. This thing is beautiful! Dark blue and black with gold makes for an impressive contrast. It has a formal modern look. Very light in the hand and it has a decent grip. Not top heavy enough to cause fatigue. Full charge is 1h, and still on 60% after 3 full shaves after 3-4 days of growth. It has a high-pitched sound but is quieter than an electric toothbrush. It has a basic display which is perfectly enough. Charge level, lock indicator, and an on light. Fancy displays cost more and are not needed. Neither are fancy features required. Remember, the more features, the more can go wrong, or fail early. Performance is excellent! A 2–3-day stubble beard is no match for this beast. If your growth is fast and hairs are longer than say 1-2mm, then use the trimmer first. Then shaving is fast and easy. Trying to shave if hairs are longer, then some pulling results, but still will flatten your face after a few passes. I can honestly say that this is as close as wet shaving. No kidding. I can go a whole day without stubble, it's that close. For me anyway. One reason I chose foil over rotary shaving: its closer. Never tried a rotary shaver either. Tried a wet test between a Gillette mach3 on half my face and the other half this razor. So far, results are identical. And no ingrown hairs! Wet shaving is ok. Better done in the shower as the foam gets everywhere and your pulverized hair tends to mix in with the foam. Ugh. But the result is the same. Indeed, if it were any closer then skin would have to be removed! My preference is to dry shave before ablutions. This is the better option as hairs absorb moisture and change the shaving dynamic. At least you should require less pre and post shaving products. I don't use any. Don't need to and saving a fortune. Cleaning is a cinch: Pop the head open and shake to clean, use the included brush, or rinse. It has a 'sonic mode' which supposedly cleans better, but it's questionable. No other parts to worry about. Don't forget the trimmer. A few drops of oil after cleaning (and drying!) will keep it running smooth and also improves shaving. The included case is not protective and can only keep things together (brush, oil). It can't fit the charger. So, mildly useful for travel, but since the shaver has a cap, it is a nice-to-have. At least offer an authentic travel case for purchase, hmm, Panasonic? It would be a real pity to have it damaged in my luggage. The price/performance point is unmatched in my opinion. You are likely getting a Braun/Philips top-of-the-range performance at a mid-range price point. The exclusion of the cleaning station and other accessories are minimal issues and brings this device into the price range of more consumers. I aim to prove the 2-year blade replacement claim. I already owned one of the Panasonic shavers which was very good but took a long time to get a good clean shave. I bought this on recommendation of other buyers and I must say it’s brilliant. It shaves in just about 3 minutes and I get the closest shave from an electric razor that I’ve ever had and I’ve been shaving now for 52 years.
