We used two of these as a carry on for an international trip to carry our bike helmets and a few lightweight items. They worked great. I would have appreciated a few other pockets to store smaller items. It has two large compartments and 2 additional pockets inside the one closest to your back. The waterproof pocket is quite deep. I purchased this to use as a "go bag" in my emergency preparedness kit. By "go bag" I mean something I can grab quickly that would help me get through a few days after a natural disaster. I had a huge pile of stuff I wanted to include and thought it would never fit, but I had room left. First aid kit, emergency tent and sleeping bag, some food, cooking and cleaning supplies, a lantern, change of clothes, portable shovel, camp tool, pet supplies, etc. It is very lightweight yet seems sturdy. The straps are OK but I can imagine could get uncomfortable after a few hours (the chest strap would help though). Bought this for travelling so that we could have a comfortable foldable bag to take with us to bring groceries and larger items home with us. Have not used it yet, but very happy with the quality of this bag. I used to sell outdoor sporting gear, so I can spot shoddy work or bad materials pretty quick. This bag is amazing for the price that it is. Would highly recommend it to friends or family or you. It is a little larger than a regular day pack but not inconsistent with what I used to use for books on campus. I could probably get a weekend trip out of it if I did not need to have a lot of layers of clothes. Almost too big for a day on the beach by myself, but perfect for two people and their towels and gear. Very happy with all of the pockets, the dry pocket, and hooks and loops for me to stash extra on the outside if needed. The water bottle pockets are also very generously sized so they will actually fit my Contigo cups, not certain if they would fit a Nalgene, unless you had the slim one. Read more
