Produces a loud human like scream just like I hoped it would. The quality of the actual product looked better than the pics on the listing. I thought the listing pics looked a little rough but I was willing to accept that due to it being handmade, not mass produced. I use it to wake my kids up in the mornings. It looks great and sounds scary. I haven't blown in it very hard yet but hard enough to hear the famous eerie sound. Didn't post any photos of it because it looks just like a lot of the photos already shown in several reviews. I was concerned that it would arrive damaged like some others and luckily it wasn't. The box it came in was in a paper post bag and could have been damaged (Amazon shipping style) but mine was completely undamaged. The photos I included are about the decor part. There is a legal paper with a very small font that mentions storage "Storage: Store the whistle in its protective burlap pouch when not in use to prevent dust and damage." I asked ZBOSS Inc. what that means and why it is in the small print on the legal paper, and the conversation is in the added photos. I think it's safe as decoration but I don't know if it will be affected after a few years or so and by then most people would forget or let it go, so use your own judgment and make of that what you will. But I hope and will take the risk that it's okay to store as decoration. Other than that, I really do like it, the look and sound, just like most positive reviews. Read more

First the packaging, I got it in a compact box so it didn't have room to flop around and become damaged. There was bubble wrap and a small cardboard piece to cover the mouthpiece. Great packaging and shipping, luckily it wasn't broken which would be more on the delivery system than the merchant. Next is the items, it comes with a nice drawstring bag and little information insert. Very nice touch, the bag though is a little tricky to open, bit after a few times it seems it just needs to be broken in. It's a sort of burlap bag, think those soap carrying pouches or the ones for potatoes. It's design is nice and keeps it covered. Great pouch, stiff when you first open it, so it needs a little breaking in. Finally the whistle, it isn't heavy but you can tell it's not plastic. I can't confirm the materials are as listed, and I don't want to break it to check, but it's about the weight of a baseball. The design looks like the picture and the mouthpiece didn't have any defects or issues with making the sound. I don't have a tool to verify the decibel, but it's loud. It sounds more human and like a banshee shriek, so if you were expecting the sound of scream souls, it's not that eerie. Great product, packaging and storage pouch were nice and done right. With the price, and definitely will be loud and scare people. Doesn't sound like multiple screams, like some genuine artifacts, but it's scary enough. Read more

Ich war schon lange auf der Suche nach einer authentischen aztekischen Todespfeife – nicht irgendein billiges Plastikimitat, sondern eine, die wirklich der historischen Vorlage entspricht. Als ich dann auf diese Pfeife gestoßen bin, war ich sofort interessiert, und ich muss sagen: Ich bin absolut begeistert! Schon beim Auspacken fiel mir auf, dass hier Wert auf Qualität gelegt wurde. Die Verpackung kommt komplett ohne Plastik aus, was ich als sehr positiv empfinde. Die Pfeife selbst liegt schwer und hochwertig in der Hand. Die Verarbeitung ist tadellos, und man sieht sofort, dass es sich um ein echtes handgefertigtes Stück handelt. Das Material fühlt sich angenehm rau und natürlich an, genau so, wie ich es mir von einer traditionellen Keramikpfeife erwartet habe. Aber das Wichtigste ist natürlich der Klang – und der ist einfach unglaublich. Ich hatte mir die Geräusche vorher in Videos angehört, aber nichts kann darauf vorbereiten, wie es sich in echt anhört. Der Schrei, den diese Pfeife erzeugt, geht einem buchstäblich durch Mark und Bein. Er ist unfassbar laut und hat eine so realistische, fast unmenschliche Klangfarbe, dass es wirklich Gänsehaut verursacht. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass diese Pfeifen im Krieg oder bei Ritualen eine unglaubliche Wirkung hatten. Besonders beeindruckend ist, dass der Ton auf Aufnahmen gar nicht richtig rüberkommt – in echt ist er noch viel intensiver. Ohne ein zusätzliches Mikrofon kann man die volle Kraft dieser Pfeife kaum einfangen. Ich habe sie draußen getestet, und selbst aus großer Entfernung ist sie noch erschreckend laut und angsteinflößend. Für mich ist diese Todespfeife nicht nur ein beeindruckendes Klanginstrument, sondern auch ein Stück Geschichte. Sie wurde mit viel Liebe zur Tradition gefertigt und ist ihr Geld absolut wert.
