Needed a long focal length scope to complement my "short" scope. Short scope is great for nebulas, etc, but too wide for closeup planetary or lunar viewing/photography. This scope at 1300 mm FL, altho not too wide in aperture, is a great scope for planetary viewing and is easy to carry around. Saturn & jupiter pics were shot with it the day (night!) it arrived! This is a very good telescope. The baffle opening is only slightly more than 20mm, so if you like a wide field of view, this telescope probably isn't for you. But if you do most of you're viewing at less than 1 degree field of view (Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, globular star clusters, etc.), and you want a convenient easy to handle telescope, maybe you should consider this one. So far as I'm concerned, it's at least as good as, and possibly better than, my 80mm ED refractor that sells for nearly triple the price of this Mak! At F/12.7 it's pretty easy on eyepieces. The eyepieces that come with it work well, and so do my affordable Plossls. I should say that I have never used the finder that comes with this 'scope. It seems cheap and is one thing you might want to upgrade in the future. I use the finder that came with my refractor. I mount this 'scope on a sturdy camera tripod and I can get the 'scope, tripod, and my eyepieces out the door and into the backyard in one trip. That's very important to me; Most nights I'm pressed for time and don't want to have to make multiple trips to get the 'scope outside, and then multiple trips to get it back inside. The focuser is smooth, the stars are sharp and round, there's no false colour, and the 'scope takes high magnification well. That's all I expected. I'm happy. Read more

Si te gustan las noches despejadas y siempre te ha llamado la atención eso de mirar la Luna o los planetas, el Sky-Watcher Skymax 102mm es una joyita. No necesitas ser un experto ni tener un equipo gigante para disfrutar de buenas vistas. Este telescopio es súper compacto y fácil de llevar a donde quieras; lo puedes meter en el auto sin problema si te vas de escapada para buscar cielos más oscuros. Lo que me encanta de este telescopio es su diseño Maksutov-Cassegrain. ¿Qué significa eso? Básicamente, que aunque es pequeño, la calidad de la imagen es tremenda. Te permite ver la Luna con unos detalles increíbles, y si le tienes paciencia, te deja observar planetas como Júpiter y Saturno con sus anillos. No te va a mostrar colores y detalles de alta definición como los grandes telescopios, pero para su tamaño, se defiende de maravilla. Otra cosa que suma bastante es lo fácil que es de manejar, así que si eres de los que no quiere estar ajustando mil cosas, este te va a gustar. Lo armas rápido, te orientas bien, y listo, ya estás disfrutando del cielo. Además, como es liviano, no te vas a cansar moviéndolo de un lado a otro. Ahora, no es un equipo para astrofotografía súper avanzada, pero si quieres empezar a meterle mano a eso de capturar la Luna o algunos planetas con una cámara simple, ¡va perfecto! Y claro, también lo puedes usar para observación terrestre. Si tienes una buena vista desde casa, este telescopio también te sirve para ver paisajes y detalles a larga distancia. En resumen, el Skymax 102mm es compacto, fácil de usar, y te va a dar muchas horas de disfrute, sin tener que hacer un curso para entender cómo usarlo.
