This is definitely a high quality propane heater. It has a host of temperature control features ranging from auto-timer functions all the way to economy mode settings. The build quality is excellent. No rattling when the fan is running or poor firing performance when the unit is in AUTO OFF mode (in this mode, the unit turns off once the desired temperature is reached, then turns on again when it drops below the set point). The fan is powerful (215 CFM) yet quiet. The heater is smart enough to keep the fan running for a little while after the flame turns off, in order to cool the unit down and push out any remaining heat. Instruction manual is thorough and easy to follow. Installation took five minutes (minus running all the propane lines, obviously). It comes with a shut-off valve where the feed line connects at the back, which is handy. There is one minor area for improvement: the unit comes on a little quick, even before reaching the temperature set point. This can be slightly annoying, but once you know, you can adjust the set point to accommodate, if it bothers you. Read more

Heater was replacing a wall mounted infrared. So got flex line and connect to heater. Checked for leaks and the mounted it to floor. Plugged it in and self ignited and works great. Very silent, no worries about kidsor animals walking up to an exposed combustion flame or brick. All internal and ramps up as need demands. Two programmable timers let me set it up so it low I'm the day and warm when I get home. The heat output is awesome actually heats downstairs and second floor bedrroms. My only gripe is the price fluctuates on azon and you can find it substantially cheaper elsewhere. In fact the price has jumped over 100 dollars in a month since I bought it. Read more

Compramos una de estas unidades y estamos contentos con su desempeño en una casa antigua donde no podíamos instalar fácilmente ventilación. Se calienta bien y rápidamente y cualquier olor desaparece después de aproximadamente 8 horas de uso. Las cuatro molestias con él son: 1. La temperatura solo se puede configurar en grados Fahrenheit; no hay forma de establecerla en grados Celsius. 2. ¡La hora de los temporizadores no se mantiene si se corta la energía y simplemente se reanuda cuando vuelve la energía! Esto es ridículo y hace imposible el uso de los temporizadores. 3. ¡El seguro para niños se apaga si se corta la energía! ¡Esto hace que el bloqueo para niños sea inútil! 4. ¡Cuando comienza, emite una serie de chispas rápidas que pueden asustarte muchísimo! (A menudo despierta a nuestro hijo, por lo que no lo usamos tanto como podríamos). Pedimos una segunda unidad para otra habitación, pero llegó en pedazos con la fachada de plástico rota y el frente doblado. Devolverlo fue una pesadilla que tardó semanas en resolverse. Mal servicio. ---- We bought one of these units and have been happy with its performance in an old house where we could not easily install ventilation. It heats well and quickly and any smell goes away after about 8 hours of use. The four annoyances with it are: 1. The temperature can only be set in Fahrenheit - there is no way to set it to Celsius. 2. The hour for the timers is not maintained if the power goes off and simply resumes from when the power comes back on! This is ridiculous and makes using the timers impossible. 3. The child lock turns off if the power goes off! This makes the child lock useless! 4. When it starts it makes a series of rapid sparking sounds which can scare the hell out of you! (It often wakes our kid so we don't use it as much as we might.) We ordered a second unit for another room but it arrived in pieces with the plastic facade cracked and the front bent. Returning it was a nightmare which took weeks to sort out. We were not given the option to receive a replacement and still haven't got our second unit. Terrible service. Read more

I RARELY leave reviews for products I buy on Amz. But I felt obligated to leave one for this heater. Yes, it’s expensive, no I haven’t tried the cheaper models like Mr. Heater etc. I researched all of them, and the reviews and researching Rinnai on Google, I couldn’t find one bad thing written about them. These heaters frequently rate as the #1 heater on top ten lists. After getting it hooked up and running, I see why! The heat output was instantly notable. I live in a 1200 sq ft old farmhouse, drafty, but not too bad. We started this heater up the first evening, and ran it through the night. Our house went from sub 60F to 72F by the morning. The entire house! Not just the room where the heater is. It would have gone higher had I set the thermostat higher. WHich I should mention, the thermostat works perfectly and will ramp the unit up and down automatically (if you set it to do so). In fact, as I write this, the unit just shut itself down, and it’s in the low 30s out this morning. I actually considered turning the unit down to like 66F, because it was making me too hot while sleeping and our bedroom is upstairs. This thing really heats up the whole house, I’m absolutley blown away honestly. The install was pretty easy, i bought the Mr. Heter appliance hookup kit on Amazon and it cam with all the proper fittings. Rinnai includes one shutoff valve, and the kit comes with the other one you need. I went to home depot and bought their HomeFlex CSST yellow gas line and the appropriate fittings, basically just the hose and two termination fittings. Drilled a hole in the floor, ran the hose into the basement and out the sill board, then connsected that to a 125lbs propane tank. I have no idea how long the tank will last before I need to refill, but the technician that delivered the tank seems to thinkabout 2 months, we’ll see. It was only $235 to fill the tank, so compared to heating oil at over $5 per gallon and running my furnace with the electric, this is at least 300-400% cheaper per month. LGB! I was thinking about buying another one of these heaters for the other end of my house, but honestly I don’t need it. This unit alone does the job! If I could give 10 stars I would. I gave only 4 stars for install because while it’s easy, I would suggest most people have a pro install it for them because you have to be pretty confident in your ability to leak test the fittings and line properly, or you could die. Bought that machine for my offgrid cabin. I’m running on solar and the heater use very little of power 35watts (for the fan) and it blows warm arm nicely and very little noise from that fan. My cabin is made of wood so even if the Machine produce very little of humidity i don’t mind because i’ve always a pot of water on my wood stove. The most fun part of this machine other than it’s efficiency are the two timers. Since i’ve that machine i don’t wakeup at night anymore to put wood in the woodstove. I simply use the timer from 5am to 8am and the machine start by itself warming up the place while i wakeup. There’s a carbone monoxide detector on the machine so if there’s any issue it will stop automatically. The eco mode works perfectly. My cabin is 524sq/ft and even in the coldest of winter the heater is at Low and on eco mode and the cabin reach 20 easy. The only thing ther should improve is a way to start it remotely with wifi for exemple when you’re working away or not at the cabin to pre-heater before you arrive.
