Paleontological accuracy If you want a scary mean looking dinosaur based on the (inaccurate) Jurassic Park movie then this is the model for you, if you're after a model based on science then stay clear. If your bothered... the arms are way way too long and orientated incorrectly, the skull is littered with inaccuracies and the teeth are too few and arranged in a jumbled mess; not neat rows. As a model or a toy While not accurate to science; it's defiantly scarier and meaner looking. It's slightly larger than the "standard" 1:40 scale typical of other dinosaurs in the Schlicich / Safari / Collecta ranges making this beastie look all the more terrifying. If you're into re-painting then a little colour (possibly red) on the skull bone crests and perhaps elsewhere on the head would make it meaner still and put some accuracy back into the model. The detail is fantastic from skin texture to moulding that shows off underlying muscle and skeletal structures. Combined with the remarkable standard of paintwork this model really comes to life - especially in natural light. In addition the running pose adds a fantastic dynamic feel to the model, which even stands unsupported (on perfectly flat surfaces). Mine (though it turns out not the entire production line) did have some sloppy paint work around the teeth - though the rest of the model was perfect and the errors are easily fixed with a lick of paint. The movable jaw adds a dimension of variability to display the model as well as adding to playability. While I would argue this model would be wasted on children who are going to knock it about, I find it hard to imagine a kid that wouldn't instantly fall in love with this mean beastie - it certainly reawakened my inner child! This is yet another stunning addition to the Papo dinosaur collection. Sculpt: 5/5. The sculpting that Papo does on all of their figures is absolutely stunning. These are like mini sideshow pieces. All the scales, folds of the skin all are sculpted very well. Absolutely fantastic. Paint:5/5 the paint is just as good as the sculpt. A beautiful paint scheme on this Papo figurine. Particularly similar to the Lost World Jurassic Park trex. The paint blends in nicely In all areas of the figure, and looks natural. Articulation:5/5.Just like shleich, mojo, collectA, and safari LTD, the dinosaurs aren't very articulated. HOWEVER, articulation isn't needed in this figure. In fact if there was artication in the knees, head, or arms, then it would ruin the sculpt that makes this figure pop and come to life. The figure does have one point of articulation, and that is the jaw. You can open and close the jaw, to make this trex roar, or fight with another Papo figure like the spinosaurus. Price( is it worth it?) : 5/5- Absolutely! This figurine is fantastic. Well sculpted,painted, and has a very good smooth articulation for the jaws. That's all this figure needs.
