It IS soothing, definitely reduces any slight itchiness I may have had. The cooling is minimal unless you stand in front of a fan after putting it on. However, the menthol is STRONG. I'm sole care giver to my mom, who can barely walk and has dementia. It's hard to take care of her because she really doesn't understand things clearly anymore. Her legs are very swollen and she scratches them, which draws blood. I have compression socks on her all day so when I take them off, her legs are dry and itchy. I tried at least 8 other lotions that promised derp moisture. This is the only one that delivers. It is very moisturizing plus since it's medicated, it actually calms the itching and soothes the cuts from scratching. I just ordered 2 more bottles tonight. For whatever your reason for getting this, I'm sure it's probably not as extreme as my situation and I'm sure it will work for you. It sucks right into the skin, not sticky or greasy. This lotion is the best I have ever used. It is very thick and absorbs well, leaving your skin incredibly soft and subtle. It has a pleasant smell. Not overwhelming at all. My skin on my legs and arms were itchy and sort of burning due to them being so dry. I don’t spend a lot if time in the sun so not sure what has caused this change. Our city water is very hard so that could be the reason. From the first time I applied to my skin it felt like it would be life changing for me. After a few more uses my skin no longer itches or feels inflamed. This will be my new go to hand and body lotion, no doubt about it. I am so happy with my purchase.
