This is my third pair. I find them comfortable for long walks, either on asphalt or the beach. The Velcro fasteners at the heel and the front enable a perfect fit. I have been without a great pair of sandals for a while. My first pair (Merrel leather variant) spoilt me, but were stolen on holiday and I have been looking to replace since. I had a merrel polymer one, but it didn;t have the internal padding under the straps that this one has. The footpad is compressed and shaped and very comfortabl. The sole is really thick and has some weight and theft - but if its anything to go by it will provide years of wear. I wear sandals daily for about 4 months a year, and I think this pair will last at least four years if they don't get stolen. The product looks better in real life than it does on the photos and the straps can adjust to provide whatever you need. The agngle of the straps is pretty much permanent, so if you need the strap at your achilles higher or lower it probably won't budge much. The front section covers the little toe completely, so that little pig has limited breathing/stretching space for me, but the other piggies are happy as pigs in mud.
